Former PSU QB Steven Bench lands at USF

Ex-Penn State quarterback Steven Bench has decided to transfer to USF.

Fantasy Spin:

Heading into spring ball, Bench was expected to compete for the starting QB job in State College.  However, at the end of spring he decided to transfer after head coach Bill O'Brien apparently implied that JUCO transfer Tyler Ferguson and incoming freshman Christian Hackenberg would have a good chance to get the nod in August.

Bench is eligible to play immediately due to the Penn State sanctions transfer ruling, but he cannot be considered a fantasy factor until he proves himself on the field.

N Harwell (KAN)
D Scott (MIAO)
A Boucher (MIAO)

Nick Harwell booted from Miami, transferring to Kansas

Former Miami of Ohio wide receiver Nick Harwell has reportedly decided to transfer to Kansas.

He was dismissed from his former university last week, stemming from an arrest in Marh for criminal damaging, theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Harwell is a three-time All-MAC selection, with 3,166 career receiving yards and 23 TDs.

Fantasy Spin:

Harwell certainly is no stranger in fantasy circles.  He missed three games last fall and still led the conference in receiving.  If he can keep his nose clean and stay off the police blotter, he could make an impact in Lawrence.

In Harwell's absence, Dawan Scott should become the No. 1 WR target for quarterback Austin Boucher this fall.

K Farrow (HOU)

Houston RB Charles Sims apparently leaving the team

It is being reported that senior RB Charles Sims has decided to leave the Houston football program. There is no word if he will transfer and play this year somewhere else or enter the NFL supplemental draft.

Fantasy Spin:

This is a big blow for the Cougars and fantasy owners alike. Sims looked to be in store for a big season and will be difficult to replace. Two sophomores to keep an eye on if Sims does indeed leave: 206-pound Kenneth Farrow and 175-pound Ryan Jackson.

Farrow is more of a pounder, while Jackson is a shifty change of pace back.

B Mitchell (NCST)
J Brissett (NCST)

Brandon Mitchell transfers to NC State

Former Arkansas quarterback/wide receiver Brandon Mitchell is transferring to NC State.

Fantasy Spin:

Mitchell has graduated and can play right away.  The question is whether he will battle Florida transfer Jacoby Brissett for th starting QB job, or be used as an offensive slash-type weapon.

W Lunt (OKST)

Former Okla State QB Wes Lunt visits Illinois

Former Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt has reportedly visted Illinois.

Fantasy Spin:

Where will Lunt land? Illinois is his home state, and seems like a logical fit. He grew up an Illini fan and reportedly thinks their spread option is a good fit.

D Schwarz (TULS)

Tulsa kicker Daniel Schwarz will transfer

Tulsa kicker Daniel Schwarz has decided to transfer.

Fantasy Spin:

With Schwarz out of the mix, Carl Salazar is expected to fill in and win the starting kick job.

C Richardson (VIRG)

Virginia loses former 4-star RB to transfer

Clifton Richardson, a former four-star RB recruit, has decided to leave Virginia.

Fantasy Spin:

Expectations were high for Richardson when he signed with UVA in their class of 2011.  No word yet on where he will land.

A Hill (ARIZ)

Austin Hill suffers torn ACL

Arizona WR Austin Hill suffered a torn ACL in practice on Wednesday. His 2013 season is in extreme jeopardy.

Fantasy Spin:

Hill was expected to be a top tier option at the WR position and will be sorely missed this year. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere for wide out help. This is also bad news for whomever wins the starting QB job for the Cats.

R Shell (PITT)
I Bennett (PITT)

Rushel Shell confirms transfer from Pitt

Pittsburgh running back Rushel Shell has confirmed that he is transferring out of the school's football program.  No word yet on where he is heading, although some internet rumors have him reuniting with former Panther head coach Todd Graham at Arizona State.

Fantasy Spin:

With Ray Graham off to the NFL and Shell departing, the Pitt running back corps is thin.  Junior Isaac Bennett, sophomore Malcolm Crockett and senior Desmond Brown will battle for carries in Shell's absence.

V Cooper (ECAR)

ECU's leading rusher suspended through spring

East Carolina running back Vintavious Cooper is suspended from football activities through the spring due to a marijuana charge earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Spin:

Cooper rushed for 1,049 yards and 7 touchdowns last year, after transferring from the JUCO ranks.  It sounds like he will be back in the fold this summer, but his starting job could be in jeopardy.

R Shell (PITT)

Rumor: Rushel Shell planning to transfer from Pitt

Per tweets from Pitt reporter Gregg Giannatti, running back Rushel Shell is considering a transfer out of the Panther football program.

Fantasy Spin:

This would be a huge fantasy blow to Shell owners if he goes through with the transfer.  In the second year of the Paul Chryst run-heavy offense, Shell was expected to blossom into a potentially fantasy elite prospect.  Stay tuned...

G Kiel (ND)
E Golson (ND)
T Rees (ND)

QB Gunner Kiel transferring from Notre Dame

Backup quarterback Gunner Kiel will reportedly transfer from Notre Dame. During the recruiting process, the indecisive QB committed - and decommitted - from Indiana and LSU before settling on the Fighting Irish. No word yet on where Kiel will land this time around, although IrishIllustrated.com list the potential suitors to be Cincinnati, Northern Illinois, Ball State and Miami (OH).

Fantasy Spin:

Kiel obviously saw the writing on the wall with Everett Golson firmly entrenched as the ND starter, with two years of eligiblity remaining.  Tommy Rees also has a year left in South Bend.

If Kiel were to land in the MAC, he becomes one to keep on your fantasy radar for 2014 (he'll likely have to sit out 2013 due to transfer rules).

M Agnew (ORST)
S Woods (ORST)
T Ward (ORST)

Malcolm Agnew transfers to Southern Illinois

Per CFT, Oregon State running back Malcolm Agnew has decided to transfer to Southern Illinois, where his brother Ray is the team's fullback.

Fantasy Spin:

Agnew oozed of potential after a couple of big performances, but never was able to stay healthy for very long. As a Saluki, he'll be off the fantasy map.  This is good news for Storm Woods owners.  The sophomore-to-be has one less competitor to worry about.

J Showers (UTEP)

Jameill Showers - remember him? - transferring to UTEP

Texas A&M backup quarterback Jameill Showers is transferring to UTEP.

Fantasy Spin:

I guess it's no fun being the backup to Johnny Football.  Keep an eye on Showers in El Paso as the Miners have produced some college fantasy studs in years past.
