C Miles (WASH)

Cyler Miles will start vs. Eastern Washington

Washington QB Cyler Miles will reportedly start the team's second game of the season against Eastern Washington.  He was suspended for the opener due to off the field incidents.

Fantasy Spin:

Miles is one to watch this season.  The Huskies' offense sputtered against Hawaii last week without him.  He could have a nice day against an inferior defense like Eastern Washington's.

David Ash concussion: will not play vs. BYU

Texas QB David Ash is experiencing concussion-related symptoms again after the team's win over North Texas.  He will not play against BYU this week, and it sounds like he could be out longer as the coaching staff is concerned about his future.

Ash missed 10 games last season after suffering a concussion.

Fantasy Spin:

Sophomore Tyrone Swoopes will get the start in Ash's place.  He is a wait-and-see fantasy prospect until he proves his worth on the field.

Tyler Lockett dealing with 'minor hamstring injury'

Kansas State WR Tyler Lockett caught a TD pass 8 minutes into the season opener, his only catch of the game, before being relegated to the sideline for the rest of the game.  It has been reported that he was hampered by a 'minor hamstring injury'.

Fantasy Spin:

The game was a rout, so it's hard to judge whether they held him out for precautionary reasons, or whether there is something more going on here.  For what it's worth, Lockett said he is fine after the game.  Stay tuned on this one.

ISU WR Bundrage injures knee, awaits MRI

Iowa State WR Quenton Bundrage suffered a knee injury in the season opener.  Per the Ames Tribune:

"We'll wait until we get an MRI back, and then we'll talk," said head coach Paul Rhoads.

Fantasy Spin:

There's not much to say here until the results of the MRI are back.  If it's a significant injury, freshman phenom WR Allen Lazard could be thrust into a more prominent role.

Tragic news: brother of Jameon Lewis shot and killed

Fantasy Spin:

Tragic news.  At this point, it's impossible to tell how this will affect Lewis the rest of the season.

Bryce Petty leaves game at halftime with bruised back

Baylor QB Bryce Petty left their season opener vs. SMU at the half after having apparent back issues.  The early reports are that he was dealing with a bruised back.

Fantasy Spin:

He was clearly playing in pain for most of the first half.  The team was up 31-0 at the time, so the move was most likely preventative in nature.  No need for him to continue aggravating the injury when his team is up 5 scores.

Mike Davis 'sort of doubtful' for next game

South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier says that RB Mike Davis is 'sort of doubtful' for the team's next game vs. East Carolina due to a rib injury.

Fantasy Spin:

The Gamecocks have Georgia looming on the horizon, so it would not be surprising if Spurrier rested his start RB next week against ECU.  Stay tuned this week.

Brandon Wilds would likely get the starting nod if Davis can't go.

Titus Davis could miss minimum of 2-3 weeks

Central Michigan WR Titus Davis sprained his knee in the fourth quarter of the season opener.  Per the Morning Sun:

The early diagnosis from Enos is a sprained knee, but the extent of it will not be known until an MRI is taken. The best case scenario if it is indeed a knee sprain is that Davis will miss two-to-three weeks, although the worst case scenario is obviously that recovery will take much longer.

Fantasy Spin:

Let's hope the diagnosis is just a sprain.

M Willis (BC)
T Rouse (BC)

Messy RB situation at Boston College

Boston College used a three-headed RB monster in their season-opening win over UMass.  Tyler Rouse rushed for 19-87-0.  Myles Willis chipped in with 16-57-1.  And QB Tyler Murphy rushed for 13-118-1.

Fantasy Spin:

Discouraging news for Willis owners.  Is this a sign of things to come this season, or was it a matter of the coaching staff giving everyone a chance against a cupcake?

Rouse was listed as a co-starter with Willis on the depth chart this past week, which was surprising enough.

Bo Hines looks sharp in NC State debut

Freshman Bo Hines caught a team high 9 balls for 85 yards in North Carolina State's season opener.

Fantasy Spin:

Hines had a great spring camp, and it looks like it has carried over to the regular season.  Good news for Jacoby Brissett.  Hines could make for a nice value DFS play when the match up is right.

Kevin White breaks loose on Alabama

West Virginia WR Kevin White had an outstanding opening games vs. Alabama, posting a 9-143-1 statline.

Fantasy Spin:

This is a great sign for the West Virginia offense, who were very productive against one of the best defenses in the land.  After being overvalued a year ago, perhaps the Mountaineer offense was undervalued this preseason?

Tyler Boyd dislocates finger in opener

Pittsburgh WR Tyler Boyd dislocated his finger in the season opening drubbing of Delaware.  He did not return to the game.

Fantasy Spin:

It's never a good thing when a receiver has a finger injury.  We'll have to wait to see if it's anything serious.

W Stanback (UCF)

Stanback missed PSU game with foot injury

UCF RB William Stanback missed the season opener against Penn State due to an undisclosed foot injury.  He is expected back for the Missouri game.

Fantasy Spin:

Stanback's injury news came as a bit of a surprise, and burned fantasy owners as a result.

BYU suspends both of their starting CBs vs. UConn

BYU has suspended both of their starting cornerbacks, seniors Jordan Johnson and Robertson Daniel, for tonight's game vs. UConn for violating team rules.

Fantasy Spin:

Great news for UConn WR Geremy Davis owners.  Now, he'll be going up against a redshirt freshman and a sophomore instead of two seasoned veterans.

Titus Davis knee injury: just a sprain?

Central Michigan star WR Titus Davis apparently injured his knee Thursday night while returning a punt.  His teammates carried him off the field.  The early report is that it might be a knee sprain.

Fantasy Spin:

We probably won't know much more about the extent of the injury until after the weekend.  Keep your fingers crossed that he is back on the field soon.
