Roy Helu Jr. was a solid fantasy contributor for most of the 2009 season but his swoon at the end of the year leads to concern for the upcoming year. The Nebraska offense as a whole struggled to move the ball with any consistency down the stretch and Helu found himself losing a chunk of his carries to freshman, Rex Burkhead. With the Huskers appearing to be committed to running the football often in 2010, the division of carries will be a hot topic going into this fantasy season. How the Nebraska RB situation will pan out is a key question that many owners will be looking to answer.

Miami quarterback Jacory Harris

Jacory Harris was a Heisman candidate during the 2009 season, and going into 2010 he has become a frontrunner for the hardware. Miami returns many pieces for the 2010 season and there are ACC title hopes in Coral Gables.

But the Canes have not been able to live up to their lofty expectations during the last several seasons. Will the play of Jacory Harris elevate the Canes’ season, and will we see Harris raising the Heisman trophy by the end of the season?

The numbers took a huge hit as Hunter went from a top tier fantasy running back to a non- factor for the majority of the 2009 campaign. The coaching carousel was in overdrive, as we saw the ouster, relocation, hiring, and firing of more than 20 coaches before the dust began to settle.  Some of the hirings were performance-based, while others eschewed in a total change in the philosophy of how a team approaches its game plan on Saturday.

We’ve heard plenty about the record-setting recruiting classes of the already-rich schools. Evidently, Florida and USC will play each other for the national championship for the next four years. Book your flights now, baby! But what about those forgotten recruiting classes? The only player on the team more popular than the backup quarterback is the guy backing up the backup quarterback. Man, that guy is great. Such is life for college quarterbacks with any but the most firm grip on the starting job. One bad game, some poor reads, a few too many picks, and suddenly Joe Sophomore is the next Joe Montana.

Despite their seniority on the team, most of these 10 struggling quarterbacks have to perform above and beyond expectations in camp just to guarantee they start on opening day.  Good luck, and may the best backup win.

Spring is just around the corner.  It won’t be long now before the cracking of pads can be heard from campuses across the nation.  Below are links to the 2010 college football spring practice and spring game dates for teams across the country.

The Vegas odds are out on who is most likely to win the college football BCS National Championship in 2010.  It’s no surprise to see the Crimson Tide at the top of the list.  At this time last year, the Tide were 20-1 odds.  That’s good news for teams like Iowa, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma who are in that range this year.

The American fantasy sports landscape has been evolving at a rapid pace.  The days of fantasy commissioners tallying stats by hand from local newspapers have given way to real-time scoring and online league websites. 

Despite mainstream fantasy sports being in its relative infancy, we’ve already come across some fantasy gods.  Baseball’s golden age brought us Gehrig, Cobb, Hornsby, and Ruth; while the college football fantasy golden age has brought us living legends like Tebow, Tomlinson, and Crabtree. 

Trolling the internet, school media guides, and grainy YouTube videos, I’ve found many worthy athletes.  But a few were just a cut above, and after many hours in the dark room, the college football fantasy all-decade team photo has been developed.
