Both teams’ starting quarterbacks threw for over 200 yards, as Westling completed 14 of his 26 attempts for 260 yards and two scores, while Ryan Lindley (Alpine, Calif.) went 18-for-37 for 235 yards and one TD. Demarco Sampson led all receivers with seven catches for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Junior Vincent Brown (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) had a team-best eight receptions for 126 yards for the Black side.
CFG Analysis:We consider San Diego State to be a team to watch this fall. They figure to be throwing the ball often in Brady Hoke’s offense. We identified Lindley and Brown as possible sleeper candidates before spring ball. You can now add Demarco Sampson’s name to the list.
