WR Darrell Catchings was allowed a sixth year of eligibility. Catching has struggled with injury for the past two seasons, but in 2007 he pulled in 30+ receptions.

Follow the link to find a video provided by Rivals that shows Leach belittling his players before the Kansas game. I am a former coach and I can tell you I’ve never heard a coach say anything like this before a game to their team. My hunch is that Leach slowly lost his team, and their lack of focus spurred Leach to step up his “efforts” to fix the problem, and then the snowball effect grew with both sides continuing their courses of action.

“He’s all at wide receiver and in his mind,” Miles said during a pre-spring practice briefing with reporters in the football facility. “He’ll get ball handling and running back play as a sidelight to his receivers position.”

“This gets him on the field every down,” Miles explained. “When you’re at (situational) quarterback, it’s very difficult to be on the field every play. So if he starts with base at wide receiver, then we think that it allows us to play him.”

Miles did leave a crack in the window open for some possible use of Shepard at quarterback for strategic surprise.

“The good news is he’s had quarterback play in his freshman year, so he’ll be picking up bits and pieces of those opportunities,” he said. “Who knows where he’ll take a lot of the snaps from? But I can tell you that the opportunity to give him the ball will be easier (at receiver).”

James was arrested on 3 counts of domestic violence including strangulation, assault, and menacing. This is not good news at all. We’ll keep you posted with any updates on the legal proceedings, but an indefinite suspension must be the next thing that will happen for James.

A new bowl for the Big East is going to be called “The Pinstripes Bowl,” which will be played at the new Yankee Stadium. The name is horrible, but it might be intriguing for one specific team. With the current arrest of ANOTHER football player, Chip Kelly might take his Oregon team to the Pinstripes Bowl just so they can feel at home.
