Here is our first look at the Week 8 waiver wire report.
Mike Kafka - Northwestern
Kafka should post a nice statline against a woeful Indiana defense.
Josh Nesbitt - Georgia Tech
Nesbitt blew up a good Hokies defense. Up next, a not-so-good UVA squad.
Zach Collaros - Cincinnati
Collaros filled in beautifully for Tony Pike Thursday night, but he is no guarantee to start this week as Chazz Anderson is still in the mix. Add him knowing the risks involved.
Kevin Riley - Cal
Riley was solid against UCLA on Saturday, and he gets his best match up of the season next with Wazzu.
Nick Foles, Arizona
Foles has throw for a whopping 800 yards, and accounted for 5 TDs in just his last two games. The sophomore is certainly someone to consider in BCS and keeper leagues.
Shane Vereen - Cal
Vereen posted 174 total yards and a score against UCLA last week. He could duplicate those numbers against Wazzu this week.
Montel Harris - Boston College
Harris went berzerk on NC State, rushing for an unbelievable 264 yards and 5 TDs. While he won’t come close to that staggering number again, games against Notre Dame and Central Michigan in the next two weeks are certainly enticing.
Lance Dunbar - North Texas
We told you to grab Dunbar last week. He responded with a 238 yard, 3 TD performance. If he is still somehow available in your league, you need to drop what you are doing and pick him up right now.
DeMaundray Woolridge - Idaho
Woolridge is another guy who made our list last week. The Vandals RB rumbled for 81 yards and 4 TDs Saturday, leading his team to a surprising 6-1 record.
Alfred Morris - Florida Atlantic
Morris is making good on his preseason sleeper status now that conference play has begun. In two Sun Belt games, he’s logged 23-122-1 and 29-147-2 statlines. The schedule is juicy the rest of the way.
Larry Caper - Michigan State
Caper isn’t gaining huge numbers on the ground, but he has a nose for the endzone, scoring 4 times in his last 3 games. The drawback with Caper - he has three good matchups, two bad ones, and a bye week still left on the schedule. Not optimal.
DuJuan Harris - Troy
Harris was dropped in many leagues - and for good reason. However, he is having a bit of a resurgence the past few games, and the rest of the slate isn’t daunting (sans a week 11 tilt with Arkansas). He posted 104 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs on Saturday.
Derrick Locke - Kentucky
Locke is getting plenty of touches in recent weeks (49 touches in his last two games), and his next four match ups are about as good as it gets for an SEC team this time of year: UL-Monroe, Mississippi State, Eastern Kentucky, @Vanderbilt.
Hubert Anyiam - Oklahoma State
In Dez Bryant’s absence, Anyiam posted an impressive 10-119-1 statline. If Dez remains benched, Anyiam remains a solid option.
Uzoma Nwachukwu - Texas A&M
“EZ” had another big outing, catching 5 balls for 135 yards and 2 scores. Just beware the possible return of Jeff Fuller in the coming weeks.
Dion Morton - Colorado State
Morton was quite this past week, but he had been a solid producer in the 4 games prior. This week he has a nice match up against a bad San Diego State defensive secondary.
Keith Smith & Aaron Valentin - Purdue
This duo continues to shred Big Ten defenses. And the reeling Illini are next on the docket.
Marvin Jones - Cal
Like teammates Riley and Vereen listed above, Jones is worth starting in BCS-only leagues as he faces Washington State.
Anthony McCoy - USC
The whole world was introduced to McCoy as he rolled over, around and through the Fighting Irish on Saturday for 153 yards. While he might be one of the top TE talents in the land, he has yet to get into the endzone this season. He’s certainly worth adding in BCS-only leagues, but he’s not a slamdunk fantasy game-changer….yet.
Derek Morris - La Tech
We’ve been riding the Morris wagon for a few weeks now, and he finally paid off with a big outing. He led the country in TE fantasy production last week, posting a 6-126-2 statline.
Ladarius Green - ULL
Green had another solid day, catching 4 balls for 73 yards.
Riar Geer - Colorado
Geer is quickly becoming a top fantasy TE. He posted a 4-65-1 statline last week, and his next 5 match ups are favorable against some juicy B12 defenses.
Virgil Green (Nevada)
Green caught another TD on Saturday. He only has 5 catches in his last 3 games, but 3 are for TDs. He makes a nice option in TD-heavy scoring leagues.
