The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat!
It was a discombobulated, injury-filled Saturday in the world of college fantasy football.  Did you experience the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat?

Each Friday, we belt out our Rapid Fire Weekend Preview article.  The goal of the piece is to highlight key fantasy items to look for during the weekend's action.  So it's only natural that we flip the phase on Monday, revisit those questions, and see if we found any answers.

Let's dive in...

FRIDAY

Boise State at Fresno State
What to Watch:  Fresno's Robbie Rouse and Jalen Saunders are red hot.  This is basically Fresno's Super Bowl - Boise State in their house.  Can they produce against a solid, but not spectacular, Broncos defense?

What we Learned: Nope.  Epic fail here.  Fresno was routed 57-7.

SATURDAY

Oklahoma at Texas
What to Watch:  The Longhorns will be relying heavily on youngsters QB David Ash, QB Case McCoy, WR Jaxon Shipley and RB Malcolm Brown.  Can these boys become men right before our eyes?  Or are they another year away from shining in the spotlight?

What we Learned: It's safe to say they are at least another year away from the spotlight after getting drilled 55-17 by the veteran Sooners.

Maryland at Georgia Tech
What to Watch:  Orwin Smith ranks 205th in the country in rushing attempts with 28.  Yet, thanks to his amazing 15.1 yards per carry average, he ranks 36th in the country in rushing (423) and is tied for 11th in rushing TDs (7).

What we Learned: Orwin only logged 6 touches in this one (par for the course), but as always, he produced with 78 yards and a TD.

UConn at West Virginia
What to Watch:  UConn gave up 479 passing yards and 5 passing TDs to Western Michigan last week at home.  Now they travel to Morgantown to take on Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey. Good luck with that.

What we Learned: More of the same as Geno Smith ripped UConn for 450 yards and 4 TDs.

Miss State at UAB
What to Watch:  It's not often you see a SEC school travel to a mid-level C-USA school in the middle of the season.  Can Vick Ballard get back on track in what should be an easy match up?

What we Learned: Mississippi State was shut out until late in the third quarter.  Ballard did rush 19 times for 101 yards, but he failed to reach the endzone.

Louisville at UNC
What to Watch:  Can Giovanni Bernard and Dwight Jones both keep their hot streaks going?

What we Learned: UNC only put up 14 points on the day, but Bernard (25-109-1) and Jones (4-91-1) did their job.

Kentucky at South Carolina
What to Watch:  This should be a feeding frenzy for Marcus Lattimore and company.  Can Connor Shaw inject some life into the Gamecocks' passing game (and Alshon Jeffery)?

What we Learned: Well, Shaw injected life into the passing game to the tune of 4 TD passes.  This was great news for Alshon owners (6-95-2), but not so good for Latts (22-102-0).  When your team puts up 54 points, you gotta get in the endzone, son!

Florida State at Wake Forest
What to Watch:  Does he play or doesn't he?  We're referring to FSU QB E.J. Manuel, of course.  He's listed as a gametime decision with that should injury from the Oklahoma game a few weeks back.

What we Learned: The Seminoles started Clint Trickett at QB.  After he struggled, they quickly inserted Manuel.  It didn't matter much as they lost anyway.

Memphis at Rice
What to Watch:  Alright Taylor McHargue and Sam McGuffie.  If you can't produce in this laugher, then we're cutting officially cutting ties.

What we Learned: See ya.  McHargue passed for 170 and 1 TD (2 INTs), with 44 rushing yards.  McGuffie is clearly out of the picture as he only logged one rush for 5 yards.  Tyler Smith and Turner Petersen carried the workload on this one.

Army at Miami (OH)
What to Watch:  Army may have found a ringer in RB Raymond Maples.  The guy has put up 95, 121 and 145 rushing yards over the past three weeks.

What we Learned: Maples looked strong once again, putting up a 19-111-1 spot.

FIU at Akron
What to Watch:  Hilton is healthy.  How much damage can he do against a middle of the pack Zips defense?

What we Learned: Hilton did everything put get in the endzone, catching 12 balls for 144 yards and chipping in another 17 on the ground.

Temple at Ball State
What to Watch:  Bernard Pierce had a hiccup last week, but he should get back on track against a Ball State defense that has given up the 11th most fantasy points to RBs this season.

What we Learned: Pierce rebounded nicely with 30 carries for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Bowling Green at Western Michigan
What to Watch:  MAC stars unite!  It's Matt Schilz, Kamar Jorden & Eugene Cooper vs. Alex Carder, Jordan White & Chleb Ravenell in what should be a high-scoring affair.

What we Learned: Carder and White racked up huge fantasy numbers in this one. Ravenell was held in check.  Over on the Falcons side of the ball, Schilz was relatively quiet but WRs Kamar Jorden and Eugene Cooper had solid outings.

Boston College at Clemson
What to Watch:  Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins should shred a shockingly under-achieving BC defense.

What we Learned: Boyd was on his way to another nice outing before bowing out with a hip injury.  Watkins did his thing, catching 7 balls for 152 yards.

Eastern Michigan at Toledo
What to Watch:  Can Dominique White lay claim to the EM RB1 job, or was last week just a one-hit wonder?

What we Learned: The game was a laugher as EMU got behind early. White put up a somewhat respectable 15-52-1 number given the circumstances.

Florida at LSU
What to Watch:  How many sacks with the nasty LSU defense rack up against freshman QB Jeff Driskel?

What we Learned: Driskel didn't wind up playing due to an injury, it was Jacoby Brissett.  LSU was only able to rack up 1 sack and 2 INTs.  We thought it would be worse.

Kansas at Oklahoma State
What to Watch:  How many TDs will the Triplets of Weeden, Randle and Blackmon tally in this one?

What we Learned: Oklahoma State hung 70 on Kansas.  Weeden threw for 5 TDs, Randle 1 and Blackmon 2.

Missouri at Kansas State
What to Watch:  Which QB will rush for more yards, James Franklin and Collin Klein?

What we Learned: Franklin out-rushed Klein 46 to 45, but Klein scored more TDs on the ground (3 to 1).

Miami (FL) at Virginia Tech
What to Watch:  Lamar Miller and David Wilson go head-to-head in a battle of top ACC running backs.  Wilson is piling up yards, but he needs to start finding the endzone.

What we Learned: Once again, Wilson piled up rushing yards (128) but didn't get into the endzone on the ground.  He did score a receiving TD, however.

Arizona State at Utah
What to Watch:  The Sun Devils potent offense isn't looking so potent these days.  Will their slide continue on the road against the Utes?

What we Learned: Osweiler had a nice game, passing for 325-3 and running for 3 more.  The Sun Devils scored 35 points on the road, not too shabby.

Air Force at Notre Dame
What to Watch:  The last three games, Tommy Rees has thrown for 161, 216 and 254 passing yards.  That ain't gonna cut it in fantasy circles.  Time to step it up and play like a Brian Kelly QB is supposed to.

What we Learned: Rees passed for 261 yards and 3 TDs.  Getting better.

Central Michigan at NC State
What to Watch:  Was last week's goose-egg from WR T.J. Graham a fluke?  If there was ever a time to break out of a slump, this is it - against a bad Chippewa squad at home.

What we Learned: Graham is officially an enigma after his 2-56-0 statline here.

Pittsburgh at Rutgers
What to Watch:  Does Pitt have anyone fantasy worthy other than Ray Graham?

What we Learned: Uh.... no.  Tino Sunseri passed for 127 yards, 0 TDs and 3 INTs.  Pitt's leading WR tallied 36 yards.  Terrible.

Arizona at Oregon State
What to Watch:  This is one of those under-the-radar match ups that fantasy geeks like us crave. Nick Foles should put up big numbers against the Beavs' secondary.  Can Juron Criner please wake up?  29 yards last week is unacceptable.

What we Learned: Foles passed for 378 yards but only 1 TD.  Criner sprained his knee after only catching 2 balls for 16 yards.  Dan Buckner stepped up with a nice 8-144-1 statline.

Iowa at Penn State
What to Watch:  Let's hope this isn't a repeat of 2004 when Iowa slugged out a 6-4 win in Happy Valley - one of the worst fantasy-producing games in the history of the sport.

What we Learned: 13-3.  Enough said.

Ohio at Buffalo
What to Watch:  Tyler Tettleton owners have been waiting for him to get into the meat of the MAC schedule to see what he can do.  Well, here we are...

What we Learned: Tettleton had a solid outing, rushing for 66 yards and a TD in addition to 203 yards and a score.

Southern Miss at Navy
What to Watch:  Playing fantasy guys against Navy is always tricky.  Can Austin Davis and Kelvin Bolden continue to produce?

What we Learned: Southern Miss 63, Navy 35.  Austin Davis erupted for nearly 40 fantasy points, while Bolden went 5-55-1.

Kent State at N. Illinois
What to Watch:  The over-under on fantasy points for Chandler Harnish in this one is officially set at 27.5.  Which side are you taking?

What we Learned: If you took the under, winner-winner-chicken-dinner.  Harnish only put up 21 points in this one.

La Tech at Idaho
What to Watch:  Nick Isham landed on the fantasy map with his performance against Hawaii last week.  If he can string together another strong performance, it may be time to take him seriously the rest of the way.

What we Learned: 163 yards and 1 TD?  Can't take you seriously yet, Isham.

Vanderbilt at Alabama
What to Watch:  If Trent Richardson doesn't put up 100 and 2 in this one, hate mail is coming your way, Mr. Saban.

What we Learned: 19-107-1 for Richardson.  I'm licking the stamp as we speak.

Auburn at Arkansas
What to Watch:  After last week's blow
up performance, Jarius Wright will be in a ton of starting lineups on Saturday.  Don't let us down.

What we Learned: Wright led the team with a solid 5-75-1 receiving statline.

Michigan at Northwestern
What to Watch: Shoelace in prime time?  JUICY.

What we Learned: Juicy indeed.  D-Rob didn't let us down, passing for 337 and 2 TDs, and rushing for 117 yards and a pair of scores.

Texas A&M at Texas Tech
What to Watch:  All eyes will be on the A&M RB situation.  Is Christine Michael the new lead dog?

What we Learned: Flip flop.  Flop flip.  Last week, Michael stole the show.  This week, Gray had the better outing.  Make up your mind, Aggies!

Iowa State at Baylor
What to Watch:  RG3 should be able to name his score in this one.

What we Learned: Griffin rushed for 107 yards and a TD to go along with modest passing stats (212-1).

East Carolina at Houston
What to Watch:  if Dom Davis and Case Keenum don't put up at least 700 combined passing yards, I will declare this a fantasy let down.

What we Learned: The passing yard total was 620, and this was a GIANT fantasy letdown.  Houston did their job, putting up 56.  But 3 points from East Carolina?

Troy at UL-Lafayette
What to Watch:  Blaine Gautier was a hot name this week on the waiver wire.  He might be a good play this week, especially if ULL finds themselves down big, and has to play in come-from-behind mode.

What we Learned: I pity you if you rolled the dice on Gautier this week, as he was injured early in the ballgame.  Chris Masson came in and led ULL to a nice victory over Troy.

Marshall at UCF
What to Watch:  UCF has been quiet on the fantasy front for the past few weeks.  Marshall is a good place to jump-start your offense.

What we Learned: 16-6.  That is not a jump-start.  Come on, Knights!

Arkansas State at UL-Monroe
What to Watch:  Ryan Aplin has been a fantasy disappointment thus far, posting 11, 22, 13, 19 and 21 points in his first five games.  It's time for a breakout performance.

What we Learned: 12 fantasy points from Aplin.  We're officially concerned.

UNLV at Nevada
What to Watch:  It's hard to believe this is Nevada's first home game of the year.  Mike Ball is due for a Vai Taua-like performance, and this match up should allow him to put up big numbers.

What we Learned: Mike Ball unexpectedly sat out with a bum ankle.  Stefphon Jefferson rushed for 100+ in his absence.  Even Lampford Mark got into the game and produced.

Georgia at Tennessee
What to Watch:  A battle of top young SEC quarterbacks.  Who wins the fantasy battle?  Aaron Murray or Tyler Bray?

What we Learned: Murray eeks out a 11-9 fantasy point win over Bray, who's night was cut short by a broken hand.  Not a great showing by either QB.

Colorado at Stanford
What to Watch:  Andrew Luck should be able to put on his surgeon gloves and easily dissect the Buff's defense here.  How many Stanford tight ends will score in this one?

What we Learned: It was Ryan Hewitt's turn on Saturday as he hauled in 2 scores.

FAU at North Texas
What to Watch:  If Lance Dunbar gets another 40 carries like last week, he might run for 300 against the Owls.

What we Learned: 29 carries for Mr. Dunbar for 105 yards and a TD.  Good defense by FAU in this one to hold him in check at 3.6 ypc.

Ohio State at Nebraska
What to Watch:  This game has very little fantasy juice.  Any game involving Ohio State has very little fantasy juice.  God help us when the Buckeyes face equally boring Penn State in a few weeks.

What we Learned: The Huskers and Buckeyes proved us wrong, accounting for 61 total points.  Maybe there is hope for T-Magic and Burkhead as they head into the teeth of their Big Ten schedule?

Wyoming at Utah State
What to Watch:  Can Robert Turbin continue to produce at a high level with a limited number of carries?  Think how dangerous he's be with 20-25 touches per game!

What we Learned: Turbin did get his 21 touches, and lookie here!  140 yards and 2 TDs.  USU coaching staff, please continue to get this guy the damn ball!

Syracuse at Tulane
What to Watch: Only a Big East school would find themselves scheduling an away game at Tulane in October.

What we Learned: This one was actually pretty entertaining, a 37-34 Cuse win.  Antwon Bailey put up 145 total yards and a TD.

San Jose State at BYU
What to Watch:  Will Riley Nelson breath some life into the BYU offense?

What we Learned: He sure did.  3 touchdown passes and 65 yards rushing is nothing to sneeze at from a fantasy standpoint.

TCU at San Diego State
What to Watch:  The suddenly porous Horned Frog defense could have their hands full with Ronnie Hillman, Ryan Lindley and company.

What we Learned: TCU stepped up and played a strong defensive game.  Hillman and Lindley were ineffective.

Washington State at UCLA
What to Watch:  Marshall Lobbestael needs to continue to play well if he wants to hold off the now-healthy Jeff Tuel.

What we Learned: Lobbestael had a very average day, passing for only 235 yards on 40 attempts.  Let the Tuel-to-start rumors begin to simmer.
