LOW HANGING FRUIT
No-brainer free agent adds.
QB Colin Klein, Kansas State
We mentioned Klein in this space last week, and he came through with a sparkling 29 fantasy point effort against Baylor. The BCS QB free agent market is a thin one. If Klein is out there and you need more firepower at QB, you strongly need to consider adding him.
RB Christine Michael, Texas A&M
Michael is likely on somebody's roster in most leagues, but in the event that he is still floating out there, it's time to grab him. Yes, he'll share time with Cyrus Gray, which can be frustrating. But last week, he had 32 carries to Gray's 17, and he turned them into 230 yards and 3 scores. Texas Tech, Baylor and Iowa State are up next.
WR Jarius Wright, Arkansas
When Wright is healthy, he's proving to be Tyler Wilson's main man. He hauled in 13 catches for 281 yards and 2 TDs on Saturday in the shootout win over Texas A&M (granted, one of his TDs was on a johnny-on-the-spot fumble recovery). Wright has posted 26, 15 and 42 fantasy points in games when he is healthy. We usually shy away from Arkansas receivers as there are too many cooks in the kitchen with Joe Adams, Greg Childs and Cobi Hamilton to go along with Wright - but right now Wright's production is undeniable and he should be added in most formats.
OTHER OPTIONS
Depending on your format, these guys could be worth a look.
RB Dustin Garrison, West Virginia
Dana Holgorsen has been waiting for someone to emerge as his go-to No. 1 RB. Could Garrison be that guy? He certainly was in last week's win over Bowling Green, handling the rock 32 times for a ridiculous 291 yards and 2 TDs. The upcoming schedule is favorable, and Garrison is worth a shot if you need RB help.
RB Orwin Smith, Georgia Tech
All the guy does is score touchdowns. He's found the endzone 7 times on the ground on only 28 carries. I wouldn't want to rely on him in an All-FBS format, but in BCS-only leagues he's a hot commodity.
RB James Washington, NC State
If you need a one-week spot play, Washington fits the bill in Week 6. He's coming off a 20-131-1 performance against G-Tech, and now faces a poor Central Michigan squad. As long as the other Wolfpack RBs remain on the injury report, Washington is an interesting short term option.
WR Jaxon Shipley, Texas
We've talked about Jordan's little brother in this space before, but he is still not owned in a majority of leagues so we give him another mention. Shipley posted a 6-141-1 statline against Iowa State. The freshman is a nice WR3 or WR4 option in BCS-only leagues, and must have in keeper formats.
WR Kris Burd, Virginia
Don't look now, but the Burd-Man is coming on strong... kind of. He doesn't find the endzone (zero touchdowns on the year), but if you're in a deep PPR league he holds some value. His last three statlines are as follows: 7-110-0, 9-88-0 and 8-123-0.
WR Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia
This freshman Dawg has put together a nice start to his career. He posted 16, 8, 13, 11, and 15 fantasy points thus far. If you're in a BCS-only league, he's a nice WR3 option.
TE Joseph Fauria, UCLA
Fauria, like most tight ends, is hit or miss. But he has scored a TD in three of his four games. That's not a bad percentage for this position.
