CFG Injury Report - Week 3

Injuries


QUARTERBACKS

QB Juice Williams (Illinois)

What’s the scoop?  Juice injured his quadriceps in the first series of the game against Illinois State and did not return.  He is expected to be ready for Ohio State in two weeks, following a bye.

QB Riley Dodge (North Texas)

What’s the scoop?  Dodge left Saturday’s game with a separated shoulder.  He has been declared out for this week’s game.

QB Boo Jackson (Ohio)

What’s the scoop?  Boo had been playing with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, then suffered a new shoulder injury last week.  He is out for this week and is reportedly considering a medical redshirt.

QB Zach Fraser (Connecticut)

What’s the scoop?  Fraser suffered a knee injury that will not require surgery.  Coach Edsall says Fraser will be out for two weeks.

QB Kevin Prince (UCLA)

What’s the scoop?  Prince broke his jaw and will be out 3-4 weeks.

QB Cody Hawkins (Colorado)

What’s the scoop?  Hawkins suffered a concussion in the blowout loss to Toledo.  He is expected to play this week against Wyoming.

QB Giorgio Morgan (Kent State)

What’s the scoop?  Morgan hurt his ankle in the opener and played through the pain in week 2.  He will not play in week 3 against Iowa State, but is hoping he’ll be ready for the Flashes next game.

QB Bo Levi Mitchell (SMU)

What’s the scoop?  BLM has been playing with sore ribs since a big hit in week 1.  He missed one day of practice this week to rest.  He is expected to play this week but will not be 100%.

QB Omar Clayton (UNLV)

What’s the scoop?  Clayton sprained his knee in last week’s game and did not return.  The injury does not appear to be serious, but his status for this week’s game against Hawaii is a bit unclear.

QB Matt Barkley (USC)

What’s the scoop?  Barkley is dealing with a sore shoulder and has been unable to practice this week.  Aaron Corp is likely to get the start this week against Washington.

RUNNING BACKS

RB Kendall Hunter (Oklahoma State)

What’s the scoop?  Left the Houston game with a leg injury and did not return.  He was wearing a boot on his right leg.  He is doubtful for this week, and there is speculation that he could miss several weeks.

RB Matt Asiata (Utah)

What’s the scoop?  Asiata left Saturday game early with an apparent shoulder injury.  He is said to be questionable this week.

RB Eugene Jarvis (Kent State)

What’s the scoop?  Jarvis left Saturday’s game against Boston College in the second quarter and did not return.  It has been reported that Jarvis has a lacerated kidney and is out for the year.

RB Roy Upchurch (Alabama)

What’s the scoop?  Upchurch has a high ankle sprain and is unlikely to play this week against North Texas.

RB Armando Allen (Notre Dame)

What’s the scoop?  Allen injured his thigh in the Michigan game.  The injury is not thought to be serious.

RB Fozzy Whitaker (Texas)

What’s the scoop?  Has missed the first two games with a “dinged” knee.  He is probable for the Texas Tech game.

RB Vondrell McGee (Texas)

What’s the scoop?  McGee left Saturday’s game with an ankle injury.  He is expected to play this week against Texas Tech.

RB John Mosure (Colorado State)

What’s the scoop?  Mosure missed last week’s game with a concussion.  He has been upgraded to probable for the upcoming game with Nevada.

RB Curtis Steele (Memphis)

What’s the scoop?  Steele is out 2-3 weeks with a knee sprain.  TJ Pitts and Lance Smith are expected to get the carries this weekend.

RB Caleb King (Georgia)

What’s the scoop?  King is considered to be “very probable” this week by Head Coach Mark Richt.

RB Phillip Tanner (Middle Tennessee)

What’s the scoop?  Tanner injured his knee last week and will be out “for a while”.  It has not been determined yet whether Tanner will require season ending surgery.

RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Oregon State)

What’s the scoop?  Quizz tweaked his ankle last week against UNLV.  He was unable to practice this week, and may not be able to play on Saturday.

RB Morgan Williams (Toledo)

What’s the scoop?  Williams served a two game suspension for disciplinary reasons and is expected back this week against Ohio State.

RB Christian Ramirez (UCLA)

What’s the scoop?  Ramirez has been nursing a high ankle sprain and has yet to see the field.  He is doubtful to play this week against Kansas State.

RB Stephen Simmons (Northwestern)

What’s the scoop?  Simmons has a leg injury and is considered questionable for this week’s game at Syracuse.

WIDE RECEIVERS

WR Aldrick Robinson (SMU)

What’s the scoop?  Robinson is expected to play this week against Wazzu despite an ankle injury.

WR Julio Jones (Alabama)

What’s the scoop?  Jones suffered a knee bruise last week against FIU.  He has not practiced in contact drills this week, and is considered questionable at best for the North Texas game this weekend.

WR Michael Floyd (Notre Dame)

What’s the scoop?  Left the Michigan game in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed leg injury.  He is expected to play against Michigan State on Saturday.

WR Detron Lewis (Texas Tech)

What’s the scoop?  Lewis left the Rice game with a leg injury and did not return.  His status for the upcoming Texas game is unknown at this time, but there are reports that he was seen exiting the practice field in uniform on Thursday.

WR DeAndre Brown (Southern Miss)

What’s the scoop?  In his first game back after breaking his leg in the bowl game, Brown caught 7 balls for 75 yards.  He was sore after the game, but this is nothing to be concerned about.

WR Stephen Williams (Toledo)

What’s the scoop?  Was limited against Colorado with a shoulder injury suffered in week one.  He came into the game and appeared to re-injure the shoulder.

WR Darius Darks (Iowa State)

What’s the scoop?  After nursing a hamstring injury most of the preseason, Darks played a little against Iowa but was not effective.  He is supposedly going to play a bigger role in the offense this week against Kent State.

WR Brandon Collins (Texas)

What’s the scoop?  Collins has missed the first two games due to academic reasons.  His status for the remainder of the season is unknown.

WR Andre Jones (Akron)

What’s the scoop?  Jones has been moved from receiver to safety.

WR Junior Hemingway (Michigan)

What’s the scoop?  Hemingway missed the Notre Dame game with a sprained ankle.  He has practiced this week and is hopeful to play against Michigan State.

WR Deonte Thompson (Florida)

What’s the scoop?  Thompson is nursing a sore hamstring and is probable for the Tennessee game on Saturday.

WR Cortez Gent (Florida Atlantic)

What’s the scoop?  Gent has been suspended indefinitely due to conduct detrimental to the team.  He will not plat this weekend and his future with the team is uncertain at this time.

TE Rob Gronkowski (Arizona)

What’s the scoop?  Gronk will not play against Iowa this week due to his lingering back problems.

TE Zack Pianalto (North Carolina)

What’s the scoop?  Pianalto dislocated his foot on Saturday and is out indefinitely.

TE Tony Moeaki (Iowa)

What’s the scoop?  Moeaki hurt his ankle in the opener.  He played through the pain in Week 2 but was ineffective.  Moeaki has been unable to practice this week and is considered to be questionable for the game against Arizona.

KICKERS

PK Jacob Branstetter (Kansas)

What’s the scoop?  Branstetter complained of dizziness after getting roughed up in Week 2 on a late hit.  He has been cleared to play this week against Duke and is expected to start.
