Week 11 Start Em, Sit Em |
It’s playoff season! Here are a few thoughts on who you should consider this week as you set your lineups.
QB Kevin Riley, California (vs. Arizona)
The coaches may utilize Riley more this week since Best is out, and ‘Zona is more vulnerable through the air.
RB Montario Hardesty, Tennessee (at Mississippi)
Ole Miss struggles against teams that can run and throw, and Hardesty should be the center piece of the Vols’ gameplan.
WR Rich Gunnell, Boston College (at Virginia)
Harris will be good this week, but Gunnell will be used to keep the defense honest and will have several deep opportunities.
QB Taylor Potts/Steven Sheffield, Texas Tech (at Oklahoma State)
The QB situation remains to be a mess, with the last time only 1 QB played out a game being all the way back in Week 7.
RB Ralph Bolden, Purdue (vs. Michigan State)
Forget about last week’s performance. Sparty is tough against the run - and this is a game where the passing game should shine for the Boilers.
WR Scotty McKnight, Colorado (at Iowa State)
Although the match-up is nice, its RB Stewart that should hoard most of the stats. McKnight hasn’t been too reliable and this week will be more of the same.
QB GJ Kinne, Tulsa (vs. East Carolina)
As long as the o-line can protect, Kinne should be pretty good since East Carolina is much worse through the air than on the ground.
RB Patrick Mealy, Army (vs. VMI)
The Black Knights will roll through VMI and Mealy should bash his way into the endzone a few times.
WR LaGregory Sapp, UL-Monroe (vs. Western Kentucky)
Expect Goodin to hoard most of the TDs, but Sapp will break enough big plays to be worth placing in your line-up.
QB Trevor Vittatoe, UTEP (at SMU)
Buckram shold have another HUGE day, and Vitt’s stats won’t be what some owners are envisioning.
RB Eddie Wide, Utah (at TCU)
Wide should have decent production, but the TCU defense will keep him from gaining the type of fantasy points you want this week.
WR Frantrell Forrest, UAB (at Memphis)
Forrest was big last week but this week should utilize the ground game more. Don’t get caught in this trap.
QB Daryll Clark, Penn State (vs. Indiana)
Clark should have his way against a woeful Hoosier defense on Senior Day at Beaver Stadium.
RB Montel Harris, Boston College (vs. Virginia)
UVA gave up nearly 300 yards rushing to Miami last week. Harris is a solid back who should be good for 100+ and 1-2 TDs.
WR Armon Binns, Cincinnati (vs. West Virginia)
Binns has been red hot with Collaros under center, with 7 TDs in 5 games. Continue to ride him.
TE Nick Tow-Arnett, Minnesota (vs. South Dakota State)
Since stud WR Eric Decker went down to injury, Tow-Arnett has become a bigger part of the passing game. The match up doesn’t get much better than this in November.
DEF Virginia Tech (vs. Maryland)
The Hokies have been a disappointment this year. But my gut feeling is that they will have a “vintage” performance against a ripe Terps squad.
QB Jerrod Johnson, Texas A&M (vs. Oklahoma)
If you’re in the playoffs, now is not the time to trot your QB out there against the Sooners defense.
RB Brandon Wegher, Iowa (vs. Ohio State) and Anthony Dixon, Mississippi State (vs. Alabama)
These are obvious picks due to the defenses on the other side of the ball, but I have received enough emails about these two this week that I figured they were worth including.
WR Jared Perry, Missouri (vs. Kansas State)
Perry finally woke up last week with a nice performance, but he still has only scored 1 TD in his last 5 games. I don’t trust him in a key spot this week, even with a nice match up.
TE Mike McNeil, Nebraska (vs. Kansas)
This dude has completely fallen off the map.
QB Diondre Borel, Utah State (vs. San Jose State)
Borel must have watched Kaep torch SJSU last week and been licking his chops.
RB Brandon West, Western Michigan (vs. Eastern Michigan)
EMU’s rush defense is atrocious. This might be West’s best match up of the season.
WR LaGregory Sapp, UL-Lafayette (vs. Western Kentucky)
Rolling with the “play anyone against WKU” theory here. Sapp has been hot recently.
TE Jamari Grant & Jason Harmon, FAU (vs. Arkansas State)
This duo continues to produce at a decent level despite the change at QB.
QB Levi Brown, Troy (vs. Arkansas)
Levi has played very well the last month or so, but a date with an SEC foe is not what you want at this critical point in the season.
RB Daniel Porter, La Tech (vs. LSU)
Because it’s LSU.
WR Ryan Wolfe, UNLV (vs. Air Force)
The Academy has a stout defense, and should keep Wolfe at bay.
TE Derrick Morris, La Tech (vs. LSU)
Morris is still a play if you have no other viable option (and the TE position is certainly thin). He could get some yards in garbage time, just don’t count on it.
QB: Jeremiah Masoli (Oregon) vs, Arizona State
He’s been on fire in fantasy stats and unlike USC, his run QB ability will wear them down!
RB: Montel Harris (BC) at VA.
Nothing helps a pounder RB like a bye week and a trip to the State For Lovers. Love him this week, he’ll love you back.
RB: Shane Vereen (Cal) vs, Arizona
With Best around, he’s had 4 +20 fantasy score this season. He’s a stud in his own right, and now the rock is all his. I don’t fear AZ defense all that much, and he’s very good at catching passes. He will be a top 2010 fantasy draft pick so get a taste of the good life now.
RB: Toby Gerhart (Stanford) vs USC.
A: Last season he had 100-1 vs USC. B: USC isn’t up to USC’s D isn’t as daunting as you might think. C: Stanford is a real quality football team and I would say either team can win this game. Some day, Pete Carrol is going to lose back to back games ... this week is sure ripe for it!
WR: James Rodgers (Oregon State) vs Washington
The Huskies are nearly as bad versus the pass as Oregon State. He has a TD in every game but 1 (vs. Cincy).
WR: Dezmon Briscoe (Kansas) vs. Nebraska
My gut is saying Kansas (Reesing) will have a good enough game versus the Huskers. Don’t be discouraged and bench him because of their recent troubles.
WR: Mardy Gilyard (Cincinnati) vs West Virginia
Pike is going to get snaps and Mardy is his favorite target. I can only imagine that Pike’s plays will be long throws. Good news for Mardy.
WR: Dexter McCluster (Ole Miss) vs Tennessee
He’s more of a RB and without him the Rebs has very little chance versus the Vols. The word is he was rested last week - no injury or mystery suspension.
WR: Brandon LaFell (LSU) vs. La Tech
He should rock out 100-2 as LSU takes out their frustrations on this in-state foe. He has scored 2 TD’s vs both their previous non-BCS opponents this season. Roll “tide” with that.
TE: Joe Halahuni (Oregon State) vs. Washington
I like OSU in this game, and he’s been key to their pass attack.
QB: Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame) at Pittsburgh
It gives me great pleasure to type this! If you own him, you don’t really deserve to make the playoffs - just sit down this clown!
RB: Anthony Dixon (Mississippi State) vs. Alabama
You can’t expect a score, so why play him for 25 carries and 70 yards?
RB: Ben Tate (Auburn) vs Georgia
I’m thinking this will be a low scoring affair, and I feel UGA’s confidence is high.
RB: Noel DeVine (West Virginia) vs Cincinnati
He’s not 100% and I think Cincy is going to mop the floor with WVU. “Innefective” is the term I will use to describe him this week.
WR: Darvin Adams (Auburn) vs Georgia
He has caught 1 TD all season vs a SEC team, and last week was so easy, I think he finds it hard to get open this week.
WR: Damian Williams (USC) vs. Stanford
High ankle sprain and is doubtful. No way do you play him this week.
WR: DeVier Posey (Ohio State) vs. Iowa
Should be a low scoring game and he must be double covered! Iowa shouldn’t make the same mistake PSU made last week.
TE: Riar Geer (Colorado) at Iowa State
The Colorado offense has gone missing, and Mr. Geer has gone with them.
QB Ryan Lindley (San Diego State) vs. TCU
After getting collared by TCU, the Aztecs are ready to explode again this week.
RB Chad Spann (Northern Illinois) vs. Ball State
I said last week that he was becoming more of a featured back, and less of a split carry situation. I liked that a lot for a fantasy play.
RB Vai Taua (Nevada) vs. Fresno State
Well rested after last week’s destruction of San Jose State. Won’t have to sit for the 2nd half (due to a complete blowout) this week. This game will be competitive and he will play the duration.
RB Robert Turbin (Utah State) vs. San Jose State
San Jose State couldn’t stop anyone last week. Good news for Turbin.
WR LaGregory Sapp (UL-Monroe) vs. Western Kentucky
He’s up against Western Kentucky where things are so bad they just fired their coach.
WR Demarco Sampson (San Diego State) vs. Wyoming
QB Lindley will be riding his back.
WR James Cleveland (Houston) vs. Central Florida
He’s getting the middle of the field catches and is key to their attack. He’s replaced Mark Hafner (2008’s stud) in their offense.
WR Greg Salas (Hawaii) vs. New Mexico State
He’s been their man all season long, good match up at home.
TE Alston Umolo (San Diego State) vs. Wyoming
So goes Lindley, so goes their TE - a good play!
QB: GJ Kinne (Tulsa) vs. East Carolina
ECU is going to be able to disrupt their pass attack.
RB: Lance Dunbar (North Texas)
He registered a mysterious 5 fantasy points last week. He’s not listed as injured, but consider him as such until his production returns.
RB: Eddie Wide (Utah) vs. TCU
TCU is not to be toyed with. Keep him benched.
RB: Alfred Morris (FAU) vs. Western Kentucky
Since QB Rusty Smith went down, he has yet to score a TD. It’s a mystery you don’t want to roll your fantasy season on.
WR: Max Komar (Idaho) vs. Boise State
Boise State rolls in, and Idaho’s backup seems to like throwing to WR Shaw better.
WR: Jerel Jerrigan (Troy) vs. Arkansas
Faces a SEC team that shut down South Carolina - no thanks.
WR: Damaris Johnson (Tulsa) vs. East Carolina
He shouldn’t do much. Tulsa is getting worse!
WR: Armand Robinson (Miami-OH)
He’s just too streaky and hasn’t put up back to back solid plays all season. He hot of late, but I’m not a fan.
TE: Derek Morris (La Tech) vs. LSU
Toughest match up of the season, he won’t be getting open vs LSU.
