BCS Only Selections:

START’EM

QB Jonathan Crompton, Tennessee (vs. Memphis)
Crompton has been surprising good in cupcake games. RB Hardesty will have a field day, but Crompton will be a good start in BCS or deep leagues.

RB Noel Devine, West Virginia (vs. Louisville)
Louisville is just plain bad on defense. You can see the Mountaineers hammer the ball with Devine, and Noel will feature his big play ability.

WR Armon Binns, Cincinnati (vs. UConn)
Binns has stepped up the last two weeks. It looks likes Binns has become the complimentary WR to Gilyard. Binns should be involved more by the coaches to keep defenses from doubling Gilyard.

SIT ‘EM

QB Jevan Snead, Mississippi (vs. Northern Arizona)
Ole Miss has a great match-up this week, but be careful. Ole Miss should grind it out on the ground, and Snead will be decent but not good enough by fantasy standards.

RB Roy Helu, Nebraska (vs. Oklahoma)
Its obvious that you don’t want to start a RB against the Sooner D, but Helu is the main issue here. He has struggled since injuring his shoulder against Missouri. He just doesn’t look like he is able to run “behind his pads” like he used to. It looks like Helu won’t be much of a fantasy option for the rest of the season.

WR Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma (at Nebraska)
The match-up looks bad, but it should be good enough for Broyles. The Nebraska defense will make the ground game for Oklahoma struggle, but that means that Landry will have more opportunities to find Broyles. Be warned though, expect slightly lower numbers form Broyles.

JOE ARPASI - Geek Staff

Non-BCS Only Selections:

START’EM

QB Kyle Pardon, SMU (vs. Rice)
Pardon has taken over for the injured Bo Levi Mitchell. In last week’s game Pardon was decent, but now he faces an awful Rice defense. Pardon should only be an option in deep leagues.

RB DuJuan Harris, Troy (at Western Kentucky)
Western Kentucky is one of the worst rush defenses in the country. Harris should see more yards out of the carries he gets. The passing game will still be humming, but expect Harris to have one of his best games of the year in Week 10.

WR Kevin Jurovich, San Jose State (vs. Nevada)
Its about time for Juro to find his stride. This is the game for him to do it, against a team that has a poor pass defense and an offense that will force San Jose State to keep throwing the ball late.

SIT ‘EM

QB GJ Kinne, Tulsa (vs. Houston)
Kinne was benched in last week’s game, but has been named the starter for Week 10. Its still not known if he could get the hook again, but what is known is the fact the Tulsa o-line has not been good and it has held back the ability of the passing game.

RB Meco Brown, Northern Illinois (vs. Eastern Michigan)
Northern Illinois has one of the best remaining schedule for rushing match-ups. Many fantasy owners that couldn’t get Spann took a shot on Brown. Brown gets touches, but he doesn’t produce enough with those touches and doesn’t get the ball in the redzone – where it counts.

WR DeMarco Sampson, San Diego State (vs. TCU)
Sampson has been a reliable fill-in for injured Vincent Brown, but storm clouds are forming in San Diego. The TCU pass rush will hammer QB Lindley, and you can see Sampson’s stats suffer due to that fact.

TODD DEVRIES - Geek Staff

BCS Only Selections:

START’EM

QB Russell Wilson, NC State (vs. Maryland)
Wilson has been on fire of late, and the Terps defense leaves much to be desired.

RB Keola Antolin, Arizona (vs. Washington State)
Nic Grigsby is out, and Antolin should see plenty of work in this laugher.

WR Jonathan Baldwin, Pittsburgh (vs. Syracuse)
Baldwin is a home run threat who should hit at least one over the fence against a bad Cuse squad.

SIT ‘EM

QB Tony Pike, Cincinnati (vs. Connecticut)
I’ve been surprised by the number of emails I’ve received this week asking about whether or not Pike is a good play this week.  I don’t think he’s worth the risk.  Don’t mess around with his injury.  Wait another week.

RB Demarco Murray, Oklahoma (vs. Nebraska)
I just don’t trust this guy.  He’s injury-prone.  He shares carries with Chris Brown.  And he’s facing a decent Husker defense on the road.  If you’re on the fence with Murray, keep him on the bench.

WR Michael Floyd, Notre Dame (vs. Nebraska)
I think it would be wise to sit Floyd this week, unless you are in desperation mode.  I see him with a 12 point fantasy ceiling.

TODD DEVRIES - Geek Staff

Non-BCS Only Selections:

START’EM

QB Levi Brown, Troy (vs. WKU)
The Hiltoppers defense is a dumpster fire.  Start all of your Troy boys in this one.

RB Frank Goodin, ULM (vs. North Texas)
Goodin has been quiet the past three weeks against good defenses.  Look for him to break out of his slumber this week.

WR Tyshon Goode, Kent State (vs. Akron)
The Golden Flash WR has caught 20 balls over the past two weeks.  Ride the hot hand!

SIT ‘EM

QB Ryan Lindley, San Diego State (vs. TCU)
This is not the week to pin your playoff hopes in the San Diego State gunslinger.  The TCU defense has teeth.

RB Brandon West, Western Michigan (vs. Michigan State)
West will have an uphill battle against a Big Ten defense that will be looking to shut him down.

WR TY Hilton, Florida Int’l (vs. MTSU)
Hilton hasn’t been the same since his knee injury.  Only played one down last week.  Don’t count on him until he can prove it on the field.

BCS ONLY

(With an eye towards guys you can get off the wire.  I tried to suggest some good plays for guys you might be on the fence about.)

START QB:  Jon Crompton vs Memphis ...He’ll be passin’ on Memphis, with his feet 10 off the floor.  The D provides some short fields for extra TD chances.
SIT QB:  Jevon Snead vs N AZ ... I don’t believe this guy is NFL tallent.  against SE LAst ... he had just 16 completions for 209 ... but did have 3 TD’s ... since then he’s gone on an INT tantrum ... I just see too many Run out the clock plays once the game is in hand.

Start RB: B Wegher vs NW ... Iowa has a pattern of screwing up the pass attack for 3 quarters ... and Iowa is out of other options ... he stats nicely again.
Start RB: C Gray vs Colorado .. a big play maker who is a large part of their pass attack as well.

SIT RB:  Evan Royster ... vs OSU ... he’s not been what we thought he could be all season.  It doesn’t change this SAT.
SIT RB:  LM James of the Ducks at Stanford.  Call it Blount fear trauma and an upset alert.

Start WR:  Darvin Adams (Auburn) ... vs Furman. Has shined in their easier games.  Vs the SEC, not so much.
Start WR:  Jeff Fuller (texam) vs COL ... he’s back as their #1 WR ... and is a TD machine.
Start WR:  Juron Criner (AZ) vs Wash ST ... keep picking on Wash ST.

SIT WR:  Randall Cobb vs EKY ... I know, it seems like a must start ... but why will they need him?  I say a few catches (maybe a TD) but once this game is in hand, he sits and enjoys the view ... he has nothing to prove ... and the following week KY has a winable game AT VANDY ... he’s a TN kid FYI.
SIT WR:  M Floyd (ND) vs Navy ...I think Mr. DeVries and Coach Arpasi have brought me to my senses ... he’s a wait 1 week to get going WR this week.
SIT WR:  DeVier Posey (buckeyes) at PSU ...I can hear Mr. DeVries voice yelling “COVER THAT BASTAGE” all the way out in California!

START TE:  Zac Pianalto (NC) vs Duke .. What caught my eye was that they were looking his way A LOT last week vs Vtech ...and that was his first game back.  They will need him vs pesky Duke.
SIT TE:  Tony Meoaki (Iowa) vs NW ... What disappoints me is they DON’T look his way enough, and Stanzi is just bad in the first half of games.

START K:  WES BYRUM (Auburn) I have them scoring 7 TD’s ... replace 1 TD with a FG, and he’s a real great play.
SIT K: Kai forbath (Ucla) vs Wash ... you shouldn’t be playing a guy from a team who doesn’t score many (if any TDs) ... I like WASH in this game ... to close out their 2009 domination of the city of LA!

START DEF:  TENN, KY, GEO, AUBURN, Ole Miss (that alot of SEC goldmines!)
SIT:  FLORIDA ... down SPIKES for a half and embarrassed.  Kind of like me for Drafting this defense WAY TOO High in the Geek League.

NEIL YOUNG - Geek contributor

Non-BCS ONLY

(For those of us that LOVE the small Conferences)

START QB: Levi Brown at Western KY ... WKY is the new Rice ... Pick on them! ... They are barely a D-1 team.
SIT QB: K Moore at La Tech ... La Tech is a tough place to play for WAC teams (long way from home) ... and he’s had a lot of consecutive completions without an INT ... a Due factor is hovering around that fact.  Watch the game Friday, and keep him in your pocket.

START RB: Chad Spann vs EMich ... If you own him ... your mouth should be salavating!  He might double his TD output for the season (which is 14) in this game!
START RB: Eddie Wide vs New Mexico ... Easy 20+ carries and a TD.
SIT RB: Andre 0-thousand Anderson vs Utep ... if you drafted him, you just wish he would get INJed so you could cut him for once and all.
SIT RB: Dan Porter vs Boise St ... NO WAY, do you stick him out there vs this Defense!

START WR: Austin Pettis at Latech ... he’s caught a TD in every game this season ... That’s DISLANDISH!  (he’s from Anahiem, CA ..the home of Disneyland) ... you have to ride that until all your E-TICKETS are gone ... remember those days?
START WR:  Jeremy Williams vs UTEP ... he might out rush Andre Anderson!  UTEP is horrid against the pass ... and since AA puts them into 3rd and unmagables ... he gets some catches.
START WR: Tyshon Goode at akron ... he’s from Syracuse, I’m betting the Orangemen wish they had recruited him about now ... he’s hot fire ... Touch him!
SIT WR:  Jeff Morturi ... vs Tulane ... I think Morturi translated into English means DEATH ...Kris Adams is just English for DEATH.  Don’t do it!  Don’t Do it! (says the voices in your head!)
SIT WR:  Tyron Carrier vs Tulsa ... he forgot where the Endzone is!  He should change his name to TYSHON ... even the Tulsa arm tacklers will take down this midget!
SIT WR: Ryan Wolfe vs Colorado state ... you can’t count on him to EVER score a TD!  Don’t!

Start TE: Morris vs Boise State ... against a tough D like Boise, you have to dump it off quickly ... he should get some catches and he’s on fire of late.
SIT TE: Jeff Anderson vs FAU ... against the horrid D of UTEP he caught 1 pass.  UAB just doesn’t pass enough to rish a start on him.

Start K:  Trey Farguhar vs Fresno st .. back home in the dome ... and Fresno could force some FG’s.
SIT K:  no recommendation ... all top small C Kickers look like decent plays.

Start DEF:  TROY vs Western KY ... total domination will ensue ... Love them this week!
Sit DEF:   we should all be on those SEC D’s ... pretty obvious!

Good luck, Unless you play me this week (shot out to the Horseman!)

KEVIN MOUNT - Geek contributor

START’EM:

QB Nick Foles, Arizona vs. Wazzu
He’s playing Wazzu, that’s all that needs to be said.

RB Monterio Hardesty, Tennessee vs. Memphis
He should run all over Memphis who ranks 105th against the run.

WR Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M vs. Colorado
Tremendous talent who is finally healthy.

SIT’EM:

QB Todd Reesing, Kansas vs. Kansas State
Really struggling right now and his O line can’t pass protect.

RB Evan Royster, Penn State vs. Ohio State
OSU is very stingy against the run and I think PSU will have to throw to win.

WR Randall Cobb, Kenrucky vs. Eastern Kentucky
He might not get alot of work in this one. They shouldn’t really need him.

RAISING_CANES - Geek forums poster

Start ‘Em

QB Kyle Padron, SMU (vs. Rice)
Should have learned my lesson last week when I included way more names than I should have, but I can’t resist.  Start Kyle Padron SMU vs. Rice.  Start any QB playing against Rice week in week out and you’ll win a lot more fantasy games than you lose.  For those of you worried about BLM coming back and stealing the thunder, I wouldn’t bet on it because as long as the game is under control, which it will be, there’s no reason for Jones to make the switch.  Plus, it’s a good excuse to get the only QB Jones recruited last year (Riley Dodge’s HS back up) some valuable PT as his confidence grows with every snap.  Jones also previously stated that Padron is exactly what they are looking for from an accuracy stand point which is the main characteristic he looks for in a QB.  Other guys to start this week are Sean Canfield, who is playing very well and has great talent around him, vs. an extremely disappointing Cal D and even Omar Clayton vs. Colorado St.

RB Derrick Washington, Washington (vs. Baylor)
The guy I really want to tell you to start plays on my team and I don’t want to jinx him, so go ahead and start Derrick Washington vs. Baylor this week.  I think Baylor is feeling beat up and unmotivated as a team, to the point where they’ve given up on the season and have close to zero morale.  Mizzou should win and be up most of the game so look for them to literally run the clock out later in the game behind D Dub.  You know what?  Kendial Lawrence is a very talented Fr. back as well for Mizzou so if the score gets really out of hand he could pick up some decent points as well.  Also, I don’t see Keola Antolin listed in the top 75; Grigsby and Nwoko are both “very questionable” and Zona plays Wazzu this week so…

WR Alshon Jeffrey, South Carolina (vs. Arkansas)
I was not happy with my suggestion at this position last week and I should take a safer bet; however, this guy continues to get no respect so start Alshon Jeffery vs. an Arkansas D that has given up 264 yards and 2 TD’s per game through the air.  Does South Carolina have an explosive fantasy friendly offense?  No. Can Alshon, a PS#10, get you around a hundred yards and a TD against Arkansas?  Yes.

Sit ‘Em

QB Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State (vs. Iowa State)
His high end, and even ceiling, is a good fantasy QB’s lowest score of the year.  OK, I’m being harsh and no I didn’t play him last week vs. Texas (because I’m playing with a full deck of chromosomes), but I call a spade a spade and this kid is garbage as far as fantasy is concerned.  That Texas loss coupled with the bad news about the real reason Zac ever got any credit, Dez Bryant (accounted for 19 of Robinson’s 25 TD passes last year!), points toward another lack luster performance this week vs. an Iowa St. team that is steadily improving and usually plays tough.  Oklahoma St. could even lose this game if they’re not careful.  Okie St. pounded them last year, but it was behind a 9 catch, 171 yard, 4 TD performance from the most dominant player in college football -In"Dez"structable Bryant (the only thing that could stop him was the NCAA itself).

RB Mark Ingram, Alabama (vs. LSU)
I’m going to go ahead and tell you to sit many pundits leading Heisman candidate Mark Ingram this week vs. LSU.  Alabama is not that good!  Honestly, they’re not.  Saban is one of the best college coaches ever, no question, but they will not go undefeated and I think they lose to LSU this week.  Tennessee gave them the blueprint last week and LSU has the talent to pull it off.  Strictly from a fantasy standpoint, the LSU D bends but does not break as they’ve only allowed 3 rushing TD’s all season (3.2 ypc).  Is Alabama going to go out there and pass the ball all over the field against one of the best secondaries in the nation year in year out?  No.  It’s a tough task, but the one thing LSU has to do and will be focused on for this game is stop #22!  The Tigers will take the attitude that if you’re going to beat us, you’re going to have to do it behind #12 (along with #8 I suppose) and that’s not happening.

WR Austin Pettis, Boise State (vs. La. Tech)
I didn’t notice Mike Williams rated so high last week or he would have been my pick as I mentioned to the College Football Geek brass that he was rated way too high; albeit, after I had submitted my weekly picks.  Damian Williams didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but I can’t consider that a win or even a push so on to this week where I’d have to say that Austin Pettis is rated way too high against a La. Tech secondary that is holding opponents to 190 ypg and only 8 passing TD’s vs. 9 INT’s.  Pettis will need to keep an eye out for Antonio Baker, a 2 time 1st team All WAC and pretty well unanimous pre-season All Conference Free Safety with 352 tackles, 9 forced fumbles and 10 INT’s in his career to this point.  Baker has a decent surrounding cast in the secondary too and Pettis (4.6 40 yard dash) certainly won’t outrun the La. Tech corners who have speed to burn; although, he does have the size advantage.
