Here we go, folks.  It's time to take those killer lineups you assembled and put them to work!

To help you piece together the most dominating lineup each week, the crack staff over at CFG cobbles together the ever-popular Start 'Em, Sit 'Em feature.  We try to avoid stating the obvious in this column, and attempt to highlight some players that might not be top of mind.  Therefore, you're unlikely to see any "start Landry Jones versus Tulsa" nonsense in here.  As a staff, we also try to each find unique players to avoid repetiveness and cover as many prospects as possible.

Enough talk, let's get to it...

Todd DeVries

BCS Only Start:

QB- Nathan Scheelhaase, Illinois vs. Arkansas State: This game has the potential to actually be competitive for a while as the Arkansas State offense is dangerous.  A close game equates to Scheelhaase seeing plenty of meaningful snaps.  He should carve up the Red Wolves with his dual threat awesomeness.

RB- Jesse Callier, Washington vs. Eastern Washington: With Chris Polk likely out this week, this might be Callier's only chance to shine this season.  The Huskies are breaking in a new quarterback and could lean on the running game in this one against a better-than-you-think Eastern Washington squad.  If you're thin at running back this week and need a spot start, Callier makes sense.

WR- Roy Roundtree, Michigan vs. Western Michigan: Brady Hoke is hellbent on making a statement in his head coaching debut.  I think he tries to pile on the points against a weak Bronco defense and set the tone for the season.  Roundtree is expected to be the focal point of the passing game and could explode out of the gate.

Non BCS Start:

QB- Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois vs. Army: Harnish is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the entire nation.  He should be able to move the ball against the Cadets both on the ground and through the air.  Army only returns five starters from a defensive until that ranked 84th in the nation in yards against last fall.

RB- Albert Williams Tulane vs. SE Lousiana: This one is a shout out to those geeks in an 18-team league that starts way too many RBs.  The diehard college fantasy dude in an ultra-competitive league.  Williams is filling in for Orleans Darkwa, who's likely out with a toe injury.  Williams is a pretty talented guy in his own right.  Don't be surprised if he rolls for 100 yards and a score or two.  SE Lousiana actually gave Tulane a game last year (27-21 Green Wave) so there is a chance the starters see plenty of playing time.  (update: Darkwa is back at practice.  Be sure Darkwa is ruled out before plugging Williams into your lineup)

WR- Kamar Jorden, Bowling Green vs. Idaho: This one is a no-brainer to those of you who have been playing college fantasy football for a while.  But to the new player, Jorden might not be a familiar face.  This game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair and Jorden is a PPR machine.  The only question is whether he can get into the endzone more often in 2011 (only 4 TDs on 96 catches in 2010).

BCS Only Sit:

QB- Dan Persa, Northwestern vs. Boston College:  In my Sit 'Em selections this week, the recurring theme is to "play it safe" in Week 1.  The bust factor is highest in the opening weekend and there is no sense in messing around if there are red flags waving in your face.  Sadly, this is the case with Dan Persa.  The news of late has not been encouraging as his mobility has come into question due to the Achilles injury he suffered late last season.  There are some reports that Persa might not play at all.  If he does suit up, this is a tough match up for Dapper Dan.  Add in the injury concern, and it's best to give him a rest this week and go in another direction.

RB- USC Trojans vs. Minnesota: This is actually a great match up for the Trojan running backs, but we just don't know who will get the bulk of the carries.  it's a risk not worth taking.  Not in Week 1.  The USC RB situation has been a mess since Reggie Bush and Lendale White left campus in 2005 and based upon reports from fall camp, it will continue to provide headhaches to fantasy owners again in 2011.

WR- Markus Wheaton, Oregon State vs. Sacramento State: Wheaton is one of our favorite sleepers of the 2011 season. Unfortunately, he's dealing with a hip flexor that caused him to miss a couple days of practice this week.  He did practice on Thursday, which is good news.  But ask yourself this question: if you were the Oregon State coaching staff would you throw your top play-making receiver out there against freaking Sacramento State?  Probably not.  Not with a trip to Wisconsin on the schedule next week.  Play it safe here and plug in a healthy receiver for Week 1.

Non BCS Sit:

QB- Kellen Moore, Boise State
vs. Georgia: Moore is one of the best college football quarterbacks in the country.  He might very well lead the Broncos to a big win over Georgia on Saturday night.  But accolades and wins do not always equate to fantasy production.  Moore has a limited ceiling this week against a good SEC opponent (in their backyard).  We suggest selecting a signal caller with more upside.

RB- Sam McGuffie, Rice vs. Texas- We love McGuff, but not this week.  His value sky-rockets once the calendar turns to October and the schedule is more manageable.  Texas has won the last 21 meeting against Rice by an average score of 42-13.

WR- Geraldo Boldewijn, Boise State vs. Georgia- Maybe he should change his last name back to "Hiwat".  Since filing the papers to go with "Boldewijn", his fantasy stock has plummeted.  Reports from camp were not glowing.  He's now listed on the depth chart as a co-starter, but fantasy owners that invested a mid-round pick on this Bronco are certainly looking WR1 production.  Right now, we advise you to bench Mr. Hiway-Boldewijn and see if he can break out of his slumber over the next few weeks.  Until he proves these fall camp reports wrong, it's hands off.

Kevin Mount

BCS Only Start:

QB- Tyler Wilson, Arkansas vs. Missouri State: Wilson should have no problem picking apart an overmatched Missouri State team and has a terrific group of receivers at his disposal. He may only play a half, but that should be plenty of time to rack up big yards.

RB- Brandon Bolden, Ole Miss vs. BYU: Bolden should be the center piece of the Rebels offense in 2011 and a hard fought game versus BYU is a good place to start. He is also a very good pass catcher out of the backfield.

WR- Theo Riddick, Notre Dame vs. South Florida: The talk has been that Brian Kelly is going to get the ball into Riddick’s hands as often as he can. Look for a bunch of targets in the passing game and maybe a few carries as well.

Non BCS Start:

QB- Kyle Padron, SMU vs. Texas A&M: This game has the makings of a high scoring affair with Padron throwing early and often to keep pace with a potent Aggies offense.

RB- Bernard Pierce, Temple vs. Villanova: Pierce is looking to bounce back to form and this game against Villanova might be just what the doctor ordered. With backup Matt Brown not listed on the two deep, Pierce could see even more carries in Week 1.

WR- Royce Pollard, Hawaii vs. Colorado: There is no secret to what Hawaii does….they throw the football. Pollard was expected to be a big part of that and could be even more involved with the suspension of Darius Bright for the opener.

BCS Only Sit:

QB- Darron Thomas, Oregon vs. LSU: Thomas and the entire Ducks offense could find some tough sledding against a nasty LSU defense. The Ducks will be breaking in some new wide outs and may find it hard to throw the ball with much success.

RB- Rex Burkhead, Nebraska vs. Chattanooga: The question here is playing time for Mr. Burkhead. He will have no problem carving up Chattanooga, but will he play long enough to get the chance.

WR- Kendall Wright, Baylor vs. TCU: Wright has a very difficult matchup against an always stingy TCU defense. Add to that the fact that he may see double teams with Josh Gordon no longer part of the team, and it could be a tough night for this Bear.

Non BCS Sit:

QB- Dominique Davis, ECU
vs. South Carolina: It is hard to sit a guy like Davis, but in this case it may be warranted. He faces a tough South Carolina defense and will be doing so minus wide outs Justin Jones and Michael Bowman. It could be a tough afternoon for Davis, so be wary.

RB- Orleans Darkwa, Tulane vs. SE Louisiana- Darkwa is banged up and may not play in the opener. Even if he is able to go, how much work will he get? Fantasy owners might want to save him for Week two assuming he is healthy.

WR- Lance Lewis, East Carolina vs. South Carolina- See Dominique Davis above. With two starting receivers out of action, it may be hard for Lewis to find any breathing room.

JOE ARPASI

BCS Only Start:

QB- Brock Osweiler, Arizona State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette: The Sun Devils have big expectations on their shoulders this year. Louisiana Lafayette will serve as a “fast start” for Dennis Erikson’s offense as he finds out who can make the big plays. Look for Osweiler to test out the receivers and spread the ball around with efficiency.

RB- Rodney Stewart, Colorado at Hawaii: Stewart goes on the road and it’s always difficult playing on “the island.” But this will be a highly competitive game that should remain close going into the fourth quarter. Look for the Colorado offense to ride on Stewart’s back to help eat up the clock and grind down the Hawaii front seven.

WR- Marquess Wilson, Washington State vs. Idaho State: You couldn’t ask for a better opener if you are the Cougars. Wilson will have no trouble beating the defensive backs on deep balls and a multi-touchdown performance is not out of the question. Just beware of the coaches emphasizing the ground game as they test out their new running back rotation.

Non BCS Start:

QB- Kris Proctor, Navy vs. Delaware: Proctor will be taking over for Ricky Dobbs in Navy’s option offense. Navy’s schedule isn’t full of good fantasy match-ups, but this game will serve as a quality start for Proctor. This is a riskier start due to his unproven nature, so try to find a better match-up if you have one on your roster.

RB- Lennon Creer, Louisiana Tech at Southern Miss: Creer is poised to improve upon his 2010 numbers. This game will be a back and forth battle that won’t likely be decided until late in the fourth quarter. Look for the coaches to use Creer on the ground and in the air as they work to keep pace with the powerful Southern Miss offense.

WR- TY Hilton, Florida International vs. North Texas: Here’s another competitive match-up for week 1. North Texas running back Lance Dunbar will have no trouble busting long runs throughout the game. If FIU wants to keep pace with Dunbar they will need to rely on their best passing threat in Hilton. Don’t count out Hilton taking a kick back for a touchdown in this one either.

BCS Only Sit:

QB- Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech vs. Appalachian State: Thomas’ inclusion here is only for precautionary reasons. This is a great fantasy match-up. The possible concerns are based on the running backs breaking a bunch of long runs, or a lack of redzone snaps (due to big plays) that would take rushing touchdown opportunities out of Thomas’ hands. This is a good start, but don’t think he is a lock for three touchdowns in this one. Just keep your expectations grounded as you evaluate which quarterbacks to start from your roster.

RB- Jason Ford, Illinois vs. Arkansas State: Here’s another good fantasy match-up that comes with a word of caution. Ford has spent much of the fall banged up. The offense doesn’t need to feed him the ball a bunch to win this one. Expect Ford to play in a limited role as his back-ups and quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase pick up the load in his absence.

WR- Mike Shanahan, Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo: It’s like a construction zone here – tons of caution signs! The Pittsburgh offense will have a field day against Buffalo. Exactly who will be the big play receiver has yet to be seen. Although Shanahan should have a good day, you can’t rely on the assumption that he will be the main pass target. Play it safe and leave him on the bench if you have better options and use this week to figure out his role within the offense.

Non BCS Sit:

QB- Alex Carder, Western Michigan at Michigan: Carder is an interesting case. The Michigan defense will be much improved this year so you need to wipe your impressions of their past defensive shortcomings. Carder will be throwing the ball plenty, but how much protection he will get is unknown. Carder could get some decent “garbage time” points, but if the defensive line is breathing down his neck all game then he will struggle with sacks, interceptions, and a lack of scoring opportunities.

RB- Doug Martin, Boise State at Georgia: Martin will be the primary focus of the Georgia defense. They know if they can shutdown Martin and force the Boise offense into one-dimensional play calling situations, then they can call the right schemes to match-up against quarterback Kellen Moore and his group of inexperienced receivers. It will be hard to see Martin not reaching the endzone, but reaching the 100 yard mark will be a challenge.

WR- Cole Beasley, SMU at Texas A&M: SMU will find themselves falling behind, and staying behind in this one. That equals “garbage time” points, but that’s if you can get guys the ball. Due to A&M’s athletic advantage, don’t be surprised to see quarterback Kyle Padron look to receive Darius Johnson more than Beasley as the game goes on.
