What You Need To Know
Fantasy friendly head coach Hal Mumme is out. Former UCLA defensive coordinator Dewayne Walker is in. This change in coaching staff, plus the news that stars Chase Holbrook (QB), Chris Williams (WR), and A.J. Harris (WR) have moved on, is certainly not music to the ears of fantasy owners. Walker will look to run the ball more and increase time of possession.
Best Fantasy Prospect(s)
WR Marcus Anderson returns as the offense’s top deep threat. He caught 50 balls in 2008 for 617 yards and 9 touchdowns. With Williams and Harris gone, he becomes the No. 1 man.
Sleeper Prospect
With all of the fire power gone from the passing game, word out of Aggie spring ball was that RB Marquell Colston could see an increased work load. New coach Walker wants more of a ball control offense than the pass-crazy scheme Mumme engineered. But they have some work to do in the running game. The team only rushed for 651 yards last fall (Colston had 384 of those yards), so keep your expectations in check.
Biggest Question Heading into August
Who will win the QB job? Chase Holbroook graduates, J.J. McDermott transferred, and the cupboard is pretty bare at the postition. Junior college transfer Jeff Fleming and youngster Trevor Walls will battle for the gig this fall.
Spring Game Hero
With Marquell Colston out with a bum shoulder, RB Tonny Glynn rushed for 85 yards and a TD on 17 carries.
Injury Report
Colston suffered a minor should injury and missed the spring game.
