What You Need To Know

Tech offers two solid fantasy options in RB Daniel Porter and WR Phillip Livas.  Both could have better years than in 2008.  Ross Jenkins has won the starting QB job, but he doesn’t figure to be much of a fantasy factor this fall.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

RB Daniel Porter could be a nice surprise in 2009.  Last fall, he rushed for 1,164 and 9 TDs.  His No. 2 man Patrick Jackson is gone, which could mean more carries for Porter in 2009.

WR Phillip Livas is one of the most dangerous players in the WAC.  Last season, on a bum knee, he caught 43 balls for 607 yards and added another 337 yards on the ground.  He’s one of the top kick returners in the nation.  He’s got his knee fixed and should be even more explosive in 2009.

Sleeper Prospect

Nobody jumps off the page.

Biggest Question Heading into August

How much will Porter’s workload increase?  This is a run-first offense that racked up 2,432 yards on the ground as a team in 2008.  Porter got half of those yards last year.  With Jackson out of the equation, is 1,300 or 1,400 yards out of the question for Porter?

Spring Game Hero

Nothing major to report.

Injury Report

As we mentioned above, Livas should be 100% healthy after having his knee scoped.
