What You Need To Know

The Bulldogs lose QB Tom Brandstater and TE Bear Pascoe to graduation, and figure to lean heavily on the running game this fall.  The squad is deep at the position with Ryan Mathews, Lonyae Miller and Anthony Harding.  How will the carries be divvied up?

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

RB Ryan Mathews was hampered by injuries in 2008, but he appeared to be close to full strength this spring.  In his absence last fall, Lonyae Miller (120-812-7) and Anthony Harding (147-822-6) played well.  Did they play themselves into a RBBC situation in 2009, or will Mathews be the feature back?  If he can stay healthy - a big if - Mathews will certainly be the No. 1 RB.  But don’t be surprised if Miller and Harding hold him back from being in the fantasy elite.

Sleeper Prospect

WR Seyi Ajirotutu, the team’s leading receiver, is back in the fold after a 47 catch, 795 yard, 5 touchdown season.  He’ll be catching passes from a new QB, so his numbers could suffer a bit.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Who will be the starting QB?  The battle for the top job will continue this August between Ryan Coburn, Ebahn Feathers, and Derek Carr.

Spring Game Hero

Mathews scored two touchdowns on just five touches.  QB Ebahn Feathers rushed 12 times for 126 yards and two scores, while completing 2-of-5 passes for 40 yards.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
