What You Need To Know

The Hilltoppers begin their first season in Sun Belt play in 2009.  We expect it to be a rocky road.  From a fantasy standpoint, there just isn’t much to like about the WKU offense.  They only scored 14 offensive touchdowns in 2008.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

WR Jake Gaebler had a decent 2008 season.  He only played in 8 games, but was able to catch 49 balls for 543 yards and 4 scores.  He had three 100-yard games during the year.

Sleeper Prospect

Nobody really jumps off the page, but Tyrell Hayden could post some good games from the RB position.  He accounted for 551 yards in 2007.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Who will play QB?  Brandon Smith has the inside edge over Marcs Vasquez and Kawaun Jakes.  Smith can run the ball a little bit, which will help his fantasy chances.

Spring Game Hero

Vasquez completed 8-of-9 passes for 115 yards and a score.

Injury Report

The Hilltoppers were decimated by injuries this fall.  So much so that they had a difficult time fielding two teams for the spring game.  RB Bobby Rainey suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery.  He hopes to be ready for fall practice.
