What You Need To Know
The pressure is on the Dodge Boys this fall. Coach Todd Dodge enters his third season as head coach. His win-loss record to this point has not been impressive: 3-21. His son, Riley, will enter his first year as the starting quarterback - thanks to the transfer of Giovanni Vizza to Texas A&M. Riley played for his father back in high school, running the same offense. He spurned scholarship offers from Texas, Missouri and Tulsa to follow his dad to UNT. Now it’s his turn to run the offense.
Best Fantasy Prospect(s)
Superstar WR Casey Fitzgerald has graduated, but the fantasy cupboard is not bare for the Mean Green. Senior Cam Montgomery returns at RB where he totaled 1,050 yards from scrimmage and 9 TDs a year ago. QB Riley Dodge has all of the tools to become a viable fantasy threat. Yet reports out of UNT camp were that he struggled at times this spring.
Sleeper Prospect
Junior college transfers Jamaal Jackson and Michael Outlaw will look to fill the void left by WR Casey Fitzgerald. Oklahoma transfer Tyler Stradford is hoping the NCAA will allow him to play this fall. UNT will be throwing the ball often, so whoever emerges as the No. 1 target will have fantasy value.
Biggest Question Heading into August
Can Riley Dodge live up to expectations - on the stat sheet? He knows the offense like the back of his hand - and it’s fantasy friendly. UNT figures to be playing from behind most of the time, which is always good news from a fantasy standpoint.
Spring Game Hero
Montgomery rushed for 55 yards and a score. Dodge completed 19-of-24 passes for 94 yards.
Injury Report
Vizza transferred to Texas A&M. RB Micah Mosely should be back this fall after sustaining a shoulder injury.
