What You Need To Know

Senior QB Paul McCall returns to lead the Golden Panthers offense.  He’ll have one of the most electric players in country at his disposal in WR T.Y. Hilton.  Hilton averaged an amazing 24.7 yards per reception in 2008 as a freshman.  Expect Hilton to wreak havoc in the Sun Belt conference this fall.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

T.Y. is The Man at FIU.  He only caught 41 balls on the season, but boy did he make the most of those opportunities.  He finished with 1,013 receiving yards and a total of 11 touchdowns on the year (7 receiving, 2 rushing, 1 punt return, 1 kickoff return).  Amazing stat:  in his last 10 games, he had at least one catch over 30 yards in each game.  If you’re a fan of the big play, watch HIlton play.

Sleeper Prospect

McCall is one to watch in 2009.  He had a couple big games last fall and could turn into a spot starter for those in deeper leagues.  Fast forwarding to 2010… Mississippi State transfer QB Wesley Carroll should take over the offense after McCall graduates.  Carroll looked sharp in spring ball and will form a nice duo with T.Y. Hilton in future years.  He must sit out 2009 due to the NCAA transfer policy.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Is the FIU offense a one man show this fall?  Or can someone other than Hilton become more than a blip on the fantasy radar?  McCall, RB Darriet Perry, RB Daunte Owens and WR Greg Ellingson are ones to watch.

Spring Game Hero

McCall was 14-of-22 for 202 yards.  Carroll completed 11-of-17 passes for 110 yards and a score.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
