What You Need To Know

The Bulldogs hired Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen as head coach.  He spent much of the spring putting his stamp on the program, including a new conditioning program and his version of the spread offense.  Mullen kicked things off by landing seven - yes, seven - WRs in his first recruiting haul.  He also landed a 4-star QB by the name of Tyler Russell who could see early playing time.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Veteran RB Anthony Dixon received rave reviews this spring.  He’s reportedly in tremendous shape, and was used in a variety of new formations in practice.  He could be the focal point of the offense while Coach Mullen tries to get the other youngsters on offense up to speed.

Sleeper Prospect

JUCO transfer WR Leon Berry had a strong spring.  He could be worth monitoring this fall.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Will Mullen go with a veteran or a rookie at QB in year one?  Senior Tyson Lee returns and is the current No. 1 man.  However, the word out of Starkville is that incoming freshman Tyler Russell is going to give Lee a real run for this money.  It would not surprise anyone to see Russell, one of “Mullen’s guys”, win the starting job at some point this season.

Spring Game Hero

Tyson Lee was 19-of-33 for 251 yards.  WR Leon Berry caught 8 balls for 125 yards.

Injury Report

WR Brandon McRae and RB Robert Elliott missed spring ball, but are expected to return this fall.
