What You Need To Know

The Oregon backfield returns lots of talent for 2009, and looks to continue its reputation as the most dangerous offense in the Pac-10. There have been serious losses at offensive line due to graduation, and the rate of development by the new starters will be paramount in how quickly the Ducks start raining TDs on opposing defenses.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

RB LaGarrette Blount is a top 10 RB for 2009, and if he can lose weight, stay out of trouble, and have a productive o-line to run behind he zooms his way into a top 5 RB with ease.

QB Jeremiah Masoli is a dangerous running threat and at the end of 2008 showed he can also be a threat through the air. We think that Masoli will be under rated in 120 leagues and will make a great backup to snag later in the draft.

Sleeper Prospect

WR Jamere Holland appears to be the hottest name from this spring at WR. It is yet to be seen if he will be the man this fall, but he is a nice name to file away.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Just how much better will the Oregon passing game be in 2009? The end of the 2008 season showed that running threat QB Jeremiah Masoli could sling the ball around the field and rack up yards. In the spring game the top two QBs combined for 516 yards passing and 5 TDs. So who will benefit from this burst in passing production? The WR core. Just who will benefit the most out of the WRs remains to be another other big question for fantasy owners heading into the 2009 draft.

Spring Game Hero

Backup QB Justin Roper threw for 301 yards and 3 TDs, along with 47 yards rushing. This is no worry for starting QB Jeremiah Masoli, since the starting job is firmly in his hands and the fact the Roper faced the 2nd string defense in the spring game.

Injury Report

RB Blount missed large portions of spring practice to a now-ended suspension and nagging foot and ankle injuries. His weight also ballooned to 250 pounds. Couple this with chronic injures hampering the depth of the o-line, and the draft value of Blount appears to slip a little in our eyes.
