What You Need To Know

The Aztecs bring in new head coach Brady Hoke, the man who engineered the resurgence at Ball State.  Hoke inherits a pretty good QB in Ryan Lindley.  The hope is that Hoke can transform this offense from last season’s woeful 99th national ranking.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Ryan Lindley probably isn’t a draftable commodity, but he’s one to watch.  He passed for over 2,600 yards and 16 TDs last year as a freshman.  With Coach Hoke guiding him, 9 starters back on offense, and a couple nice receiving targets to throw to, we think Lindley could be a spot starter in deeper All-120 leagues.

Sleeper Prospect

WRs Vincent Brown and DeMarco Sampson will be Lindley’s top targets this fall.  Brown was the leading receiver from a year ago.  Sampson exploded in the spring game for 186 yards and two scores.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Can the Aztecs find a running game?  They ranked 117th in rushing offense in 2008 (out of 119 schools).  Pretty bad.  Davon Brown turned some heads this spring and might be the frontrunner to win the starting RB job.  However, the competition is far from over and some think that the incoming freshman will be given a chance to make an immediate impact.

Spring Game Hero

WR Demarco Sampson caught seven balls for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  Ryan Lindley went 18 for 37 for 235 yards and one TD.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
