Ball State
What You Need To Know
There were some big off-season changes in Muncie. Record-setting QB Nate Davis left school early to try his hand in the NFL. TE Darius Hill was lost to graduation. In fact, only four starters return on offense. The good news? Star RB MiQuale Lewis is one of those returnees.
Head coach Brady Hoke jumped ship to San Diego State. BSU elevated offensive coordinator Stan Parrish into the top spot, ensuring the offensive philosophy will remain roughly the same.
Best Fantasy Prospect(s)
RB MiQuale Lewis is one of the premier fantasy running backs in the country. Last season, the 5’6 dynamo rushed for 1,736 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also caught 35 balls for another 325 yards. The coaching staff is going to continue to make Lewis the centerpiece of the offense, and will try creative ways to get him the ball - including lining him up as a wide receiver. Lewis will be running behind a green o-line as only one starter returns.
Sleeper Prospect
WR Briggs Orsbon caught 68 passes for 813 yards and 5 scores last season - his freshman campaign. He should continue to get better. But the star of spring camp might have been true freshman WR Seth White, who just enrolled in school in January.
Biggest Question Heading into August
Can the rebuilt offensive line keep new QB Kelly Page off his kiester this fall? Only one starter returns and their inexperience was apparent this spring as Page was under duress in many of the scrimmages. This is also not good news for RB MiQuale Lewis.
Spring Game Hero
The BSU defense ruled the day.
Injury Report
No major injuries to report, but PK Ian McGarvey was suspended for spring practice after a DUI charge. His status with the team has yet to be determined.
