What You Need To Know

This is a fantasy transition year for the Midshipmen.  A couple of fun players to watch, QB Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada, RB Shun White and FB Eric Kettani, have moved on.  Time for some new faces to shine.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

QB Ricky Dobbs is a dangerous runner in the mold of Navy signal callers of the past.  He rushed for 498 yards and 8 scores in five games of action (224 yards and 4 TDs in one game vs. SMU).  They “say” he can throw it better than Kaipo did.  We’ll believe that when we see it.

Sleeper Prospect

Current freshman Alexander Teich has solidified his status as the starting fullback.  At 6’0 and 200 pounds, he’s smaller than his predecessors Kyle Eckel, Adam Ballard and Kettani, but is said to be more elusive.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Who gets those valuable goalline carries?  Navy rushed for 32 TDs last year, but nobody accounted for more than 8 scores.  If Dobbs or Teich can get in that 12-15 TD range, they obviously become a much bigger fantasy factor.

Spring Game Hero

In a rather uneventful spring game, senior slotback Bobby Doyle rushed for 43 yards on three carries to lead the team.

Injury Report

In the spring game, Ricky Dobbs fell awkwardly to the turf.  He said he “heard something pop”, causing the coaching staff’s hearts to sink. However, after laying on the ground for several minutes, it appears that Dobbs just suffered a scary ankle sprain.
