What You Need To Know

In his first season as head coach, June Jones spent most of his time trying to fit together pieces of the puzzle.  The result was a woeful 1-11 season in the W-L column, but some optimism for the 2009 season abounds.  Freshman quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell took his lumps last fall as the surprise starter, but should become more efficient in his next go-round.  He has an elite set of receivers to throw to in Aldrick Robinson and Emmanuel Sanders.  Speaking of Sanders, he practiced this spring both at WR and on defense as a CB.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Wide receivers Robinson and Sanders should both approach the 1,000-10 club this fall.  Bo Levi Mitchell should shoot past his 2,865 yard, 24 TD numbers from a year ago.  If you’re big on guys with upside, BLM has the potential to far exceed his preseason fantasy ranking this year.

Sleeper Prospect

If you like longshots, Chris Butler fits the bill at the RB position for the run-challenged Mustangs.

Biggest Question Heading into August

What should we make of Sanders playing both ways?  Will it impact his effectiveness as a WR?  While the experiment is ongoing, it appears that his time on defense will be limited to nickel situations.  But wait - in the pass-crazy C-USA won’t they be playing in the nickel about 75% of the time?  Hmm…

Spring Game Hero

BLM was 12 of 16 for 108 yards.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
