What You Need To Know
ECU is one of the few schools in C-USA that isn’t a fertile fantasy hunting ground. Last year’s leading receiver in yardage, tight end Davon Drew, is off to the NFL. Quarterback Patrick Pinkney does return to lead the offense.
Best Fantasy Prospect(s)
Unless a running back emerges as a star, QB Patrick Pinkney is probably the top guy here. He passed for 2,675 yards last fall, but only managed 13 passing touchdowns.
Sleeper Prospect
Kentucky transfer RB Brandon Jackson had an excellent spring. He should start the year with a shot to be the No. 1 or No. 2 man in the backfield.
Biggest Question Heading into August
Are we looking at RBBC with the Pirates? Norman Whitley (personal issues) and Jonathan Williams (legal issues) have missed spring ball and their status with the team is uncertain. Senior Dominique Lindsay is recovering from a knee injury and was limited to non-contact drills through the spring. The aforementioned Brandon Jackson seized the opportunity and played exceptionally well. Senior J.R. Rogers is also in the mix.
Spring Game Hero
Pinkney had a strong game, completing 19 of 26 passes for 226 yards. Jackson rushed for 55 yards on 15 carries. WR Michael Bowman caught two touchdown passes, a 9-yarder and a 59-yarder.
Injury Report
RB Dominique Lindsay is recovering from a knee injury that caused him to miss the entire 2008 season. He participated in some non-contact work this spring. The hope is that he will be ready to roll for fall camp.
