What You Need To Know

While the QB battle captured most of the headlines, we were more interested with the news that John Clay checked into camp a few biscuits north of 250 pounds.  Clay wound up rolling his ankle - a problem he’s had since high school.  Think the extra weight and recurring ankle problems are somehow linked?  Hmmm…

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

RB John Clay remains No. 1 on the depth chart, and assuming he can stay in shape and keep his ankles healthy, should be one of the Big Ten’s top backs.  If he continues to have problems, look for Zach Brown to get a good amount of carries.

Garrett Graham is a Top 10 fantasy TE prospect.  He surprised us all in 2008 by stealing the spotlight away from All-Big Ten TE Travis Beckum.  Graham should have another fine season in ‘09.

Sleeper Prospect

WR Nick Toon has emerged as the top outside receiving threat on the Badgers.  Those of you as old as I am remember Nick’s father, Al Toon, who was a star WR for the New York Jets before a series of concussions ended his career.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Who will play QB?  Dustin Sherer and Curt Phillips will continue to battle for the starting job in fall camp.  Neither are top line fantasy prospects.

Spring Game Hero

RB Zach Brown rushed for 110 yards on 14 carries.

Injury Report

John Clay battled ankle issues throughout the spring.
