Penn State is trying to replace three starting WRs, a big chunk of their offensive line, and a quality placekicker.
Evan Royster is probably the top fantasy RB in the Big Ten. With all of the losses at WR, Royster should be the focal point of the offense. He accounted for 1,400 yards and 12 TDs last season. Look for him to post similar, if not better, stats in 2009.
QB Daryll Clark is also worthy of serious fantasy consideration. Last season, he rushed for 282 yards and 10 TDs to go along with 2,600 yards and 19 TDs through the air. With the losses on the o-line and at WR, one would expect his rushing numbers to increase, and his passing stats to decline.
WR Derrick Moye had a very productive spring. He’s 6’5 and extremely fast. He has the best chance to make an impact at WR this fall. Possession receiver Graham Zug, the lanky Brett Brackett, and the multi-dimensional Chaz Powell will also compete for catches.
Will the rebuilt offensive line allow Royster and Clark to do what they do best? Luckily for the Nittany Lions, their opening slate of non-conference games is a joke. This could give the line some time to gel before hitting the meat of their Big Ten schedule.
Daryll Clark didn’t play much, but when he was in there he dominated, going 10-13 for 123 yards.
Backup RB Stephfon Green missed spring ball with the ankle injury he suffered in the Rose Bowl. He is hoping to be back to full strength by August.
