What You Need To Know

It’s the beginning of the post-Pat White era in Morgantown.  Jarrett Brown takes over the reigns at quarterback.  He will be asked to pass more than White ever did as the offense continues to make a clean break from RichRod’s power running spread scheme.

Star WR Jock Sanders was suspended from the team after a DUI.  While nothing has officially been announced, he will probably be back with the team in fall camp - barring any further shenanigans.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Take your pick among Noel Devine and Jarrett Brown

Devine produced 1,200 yards in 2008, but was only able to reach the endzone on four occasions.

Let’s get one thing straight: Brown is not going to step right in and becomgin “the next Pat White”.  He is a senior who has patiently waited his turn.  He will be asked to run a different offense than White, with a much heavier emphasis on the passing game.  Brown is a very intriguing fantasy option, and could be a late round steal.

Sleeper Prospect

WR Wes Lyons was the buzz of spring ball.  The 6’8 senior capped off a great April with 118 yards and two scores in the spring game.  He’ll have a chance to finally live up to his high expectations in this new pass-heavy offense - especially if Jock Sanders remains suspended.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Will Jock Sanders be reinstated back to the team?  Our guess is he will - if he can keep his nose clean.

The other questions surround Noel Devine.  How will this new offensive philosophy affect his fantasy status?  Is it a legitimate concern or an overblown spring headline?  Can Devine get into the endzone 8-10 times?  Or will he continue to get yanked in short yardage situations?

Spring Game Hero

Jarrett Brown went 21 of 28 for 274 yards and four touchdowns.  WR Wes Lyons caught six balls for 118 yards and a pair of scores.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
