SYRACUSE
The Orange have a new head coach in Doug Marrone, who most recently ran the high-flying New Orleans Saints offense. However, this spring he took more of a smash-mouth approach with his new squad.
WR Mike Williams rejoined the team this spring after sitting out the 2008 season due to a cheating allegation. The 6’2 star caught 10 touchdowns in 2007. He is the only legitimate fantasy threat on the roster.
After Williams, the pickings are slim. RB Delone Carter is someone to keep an eye on this fall. He had a nice spring game, leading the team with 53 yards and a couple scores. But in the end, he could wind up a part of a three-headed monster with Antwon Bailey and Averin Collier.
Is Ryan Nassib the answer at QB? He was named the starter early in spring camp, and was steady throughout the month of practices. There have been rumors that former Duke basketball star, Greg Paulus, could be heading to the Cuse. He was an All-American prep quarterback Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse. If he were to make the move, he could poise a threat to Nassib this fall.
Delone Carter had 14 carries for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Nothing major to report.
