What You Need To Know

Coach Mack Brown seemed hellbent on finding a running game this spring.  Unfortunately, nobody emerged as a go-to back.  255-pound Cody Johnson seemed to be taking the lead for the starting job, but was injured midway through spring.  Stay tuned in August to see how this plays out.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley are back to wreak havoc on the Big 12.

Sleeper Prospect

WRs Malcolm Williams, James Kirdendoll and QB-turned-WR Josh Chiles will try to become the No. 2 receiving threat, next to main man Jordan Shipley.

Whether he wins the starting RB job or not, Cody Johnson could be the TD Vulture King in 2009.  He scored 12 TDs last year on only 76 carries.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Will Texas produce an elite fantasy RB? Cody Johnson, Vondrell McGee, Fozzy Whitaker, and incoming freshman Chris Whaley will battle for carries in fall camp.

Spring Game Hero

Nobody lit up the stat book on a day that was brutally windy.

Injury Report

Cody Johnson missed the last week of drills with a pulled hamstring. Jordan Shipley missed all of spring after undergoing shoulder surgery for injuries sustained during the season.  Both should be ready to roll come August.
