TEXAS A&M

What You Need To Know

The Aggies might not fare well in the wins and losses column, but they do offer some fantasy potential.  QB Jerrod Johnson and WR Jeff Fuller form a dangerous pass-catch duo, and if the team does the smart thing and leaves Ryan Tannehill at receiver, the passing game could flourish.  A&M’s best RB might still be in high school.  Christine Michael arrives in College Station this fall and could compete for early playing time.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

WR Jeff Fuller had a tremendous spring.  As a freshman last year, the 6’4 210-pounder caught nine touchdowns.  He figures to be a big weapon again in 2009.

QB Jerrod Johnson also shows some promise.  He battled Stephen McGee for playing time early last year, and wound up throwing for 2,435 yards and 21 TDs on the season.  With McGee off to the NFL, and a full off-season as the No. 1 man, JJ could take a step forward.

Sleeper Prospect

TE Jamie McCoy caught 43 passes for 500 yards and five scores last year.  He figures to be a Top 10-15 fantasy TE option in 2009.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Where will Ryan Tannehill line up this fall?  He was the Aggies leading receiver in 2008 with 55 catches for 844 yards and five TDs.  Yet this off-season he was slated to compete for the quarterback job, until a torn labrum derailed his chance to prove himself at the position.  Common sense says that he will be back at WR this fall, giving Johnson yet another weapon at his disposal.

Who will run the ball for A&M?  Mike Goodson and Jorvorskie Lane both graduate, seemingly leaving the spot open for Cyrus Gray.  However, the buzz is all about incoming freshman Christine Michael.  Watch this one in August.

Spring Game Hero

Fuller caught nine balls for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Injury Report

Tannehill missed spring ball with a torn labrum.  It sounds like he will be ready for the 2009 season.
