IOWA STATE

What You Need To Know

Former Auburn defensive coordinator, Paul Rhoads, was hired as the new head coach.  There’s also a new offensive coordinator in Ames - former Rice OC Tom Herman.  He spent the better part of the spring installing a new spread offense.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

QB Austen Arnaud finished 2008 red hot, completing 67 of 99 passes for 766 yards and five TDs in his last two games.  He also chipped in 94 rushing yards.  Arnaud returns to run this more wide open spread offense.  He could flourish in this system.

For those of you in keeper leagues, the guy to watch is backup QB Jerome Tiller.  This dual threat was sensational this spring.

Sleeper Prospect

RB Alexander Robinson received praise from the coaching staff this spring due to his hard work ethic.  He rushed for 703 yards and 6 TDs in 2008.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Can the Cyclones find receiving threats for Arnaud?  Can the offensive line protect him?  Lots of questions here.

Spring Game Hero

Arnaud was 22-for-35 for 250 yards.  Backup QB Jerome Tiller passed for 210 yards and two scores, and added a 65-yard touchdown run.

Injury Report

Nothing major to report.
