What You Need To Know

The ground game was a point of emphasis this spring.  Darrell Scott, the highly touted prep star who disappointed in his freshman campaign, showed up to camp is fantastic shape and performed well.

After spring camp concluded, the Buffs lost their offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich, to Oregon.  It’s too early to tell if this will have any effect on CU this fall.

Best Fantasy Prospect(s)

Colorado had one of the worst offenses in the Big 12 last fall.  They are going to need to step things up if they want to keep pace with some of the firepower in their conference.  A good place to start would be to give RB Darrell Scott a test drive.  He is the most physically gifted athlete on the offensive side of the ball.  However, he comes with a good amount of risk as his place in the RB pecking order is undetermined.  Rodney Stewart is technically the returning starter, and Demetrius Sumler and Brian Lockridge will see some time in the backfield.

Sleeper Prospect

TE Patrick Devenney was a favorite target this spring, but he only had 16 receptions in 2008.

Biggest Question Heading into August

Who’s the quarterback? Cody Hawkins and Tyler Hansen battled all spring and seemed to be neck and neck heading into the spring game.  Neither appear to be major fantasy contributors this fall.

Spring Game Hero

Darrell Scott rushed 15 times for 90 yards.  Sumler added 73 yards on 8 totes.

Injury Report

Potential starting QB Tyler Hanson broke his thumb in the spring game.  He will be out for about six weeks.
