GEORGIA TECH
Coach Paul Johnson has said that in previous stints at Georgia Southern and Navy, the biggest offensive improvement occurred between year one and year two. That could spell trouble for the rest of the ACC, who had trouble figuring out the Jacket’s running attack last fall.
RB Jonathan Dwyer should have another good year, but can he match his 2008 totals?
Anthony Allen, the talented transfer from Louisville, could pose a threat to Dwyer in the running game. Don’t forget about Roddy Jones, another talented ball carrier who had a couple big games in 2008.
How will Coach Paul Johnson integrate Allen into the running game mix? Will he be a goal line vulture to Dwyer? Will the two split carries or will Dwyer remain the clear No. 1?
With QB Josh Nesbitt held out for precautionary reasons, Tevin Washington and Jaybo Shaw stole the show. Washington ran for 43 yards and two TDs. He completed 7 of 10 passes for another score. Jaybo Shaw scored 3 TDs and accounted for 263 total yards (25 rushes for 65 yards. Anthony Allen rushed for a game high 69 yards.
Starting QB Josh Nesbitt was sidelined during the spring game with a minor shoulder injury.
