Should They Stay or Should They Go - WRs |

It’s that time of year that many juniors will be asking themselves the same question that The Clash asked the punk rock world decades ago - “Should I stay or should I go?”
Stay or Go? - QBs
Stay or Go? - RBs
Stay or Go? - WRs
This should be an easy one: he’s out the door faster than Mark Mangino after a doughnut and steak sandwich. It’s pretty simple, really; he’s a phenomenal receiver who has proven to be a go to guy, his quarterback is graduating, Kerry Meier is graduating (meaning double coverage a-plenty will now be coming his way), and Mangino is gone (which means he’ll probably have to learn a whole new offense). As much as I love the Jayhawks, is there really anything reason to stay? I didn’t think so.
Prediction: Second or third round pick who’ll never look back.
UPDATE 12/05/09: Briscoe declared he will enter the NFL draft
Has a name ever been more fitting? This guy was a running back in high school, and when he was converted to receiver, he did it with a smile as he dominated everyone in his path, When Floyd went down, his numbers only went up. When Floyd came back, he continued his lethal ways. He made the Stanford cornerbacks look absolutely silly by putting up over 200 yards against them, over 60 of them coming from 3 straight passes on a potential game winning drive (how did they not think that they would keep going to him?). But with Clausen most likely gone and Weis done, Tate will probably find greener pastures with a first round NFL contract waiting for him.
Prediction: Clausen and Tate will be arguing over who will have a bigger bank account until draft day. Late first or early second round pick.
He may get less recognition than baby bro, but this isn’t a case of Vinnie Chase and Johnny Drama. James is actually extremely talented. But playing in Oregon State, even though they’ve been extremely successful the last 2 years, still hurts his national exposure a bit going into the draft. With this year looking like its going to be a very heavy wide receiver class, James will probably stick it out with Quizz for another year and try and finally earn that Pac-10 championship and Civil War victory that Oregon has brutally taken away from him.
Prediction: Be smart James, Corvallis isn’t all that bad. He stays and kicks it with baby bro for another year.
If there’s any wide receiver in the country that’s kicking himself for going to the wrong school, its Thomas. Paul Johnson royally screwed him and dashed his dreams of becoming the next Calvin Johnson. He’s a phenomenal wide receiver, and extremely productive when they use him. But here’s the problem: G-Tech is not a passing team. Josh Nesbitt threw no more than 15 passes in a game this year, and he only had more than 6 completions in a game once! Thomas did manage to put up 1,000 yards this year, but just think about what he could have done at a school that actually throws the ball 20 times a game.
Prediction: He stays. Too many good wide receivers coming out this year to compete with.
He may have the toughest decision of all. He has first round talent and has torched the Pac-10 competition since he stepped on the field last year. But you don’t go to USC without wanting to leave your legacy and earn a national championship (unless your Mark Sanchez of course). Matt Barkley and the linebackers will be a year improved, and if Joe McKnight stays, which I assume he will, Williams probably will stay as well. When your in Los Angeles surrounded by the beautiful women of USC, it’s a tough call to give up all that money.
Prediction: the desire to win a national championship is too strong, and he’ll be back to live it up for another college year in paradise.
GONE. Need I say more? He’s a first rounder who got into a bit of trouble, but lets be serious; he didn’t get arrested, he didn’t fail a drug test, and he didn’t assault anyone. He lied about meeting with Prime Time. Whether or not he knew this was a violation, is it really that big of a deal? Kid was clearly screwed in a conspiracy to make sure my fantasy team did not take home the trophy.
Prediction: First rounder
Here’s a question for Arrelious Benn to ask to Juice Williams: How did you never find me? This guy should have averaged 120 and a TD every game of his college career, but the Zooker bated him into rebuilding a program, and now is the time to cut a bad investment loose. If Juice could not get you the rock, what makes you think Eddie McGee or Jacob Charest will. You gotta answer the question that the other Regis has been asking for years: Who wants to be a millionaire? You do Mr. Benn, and it’s time you got paid.
Prediction: Second or third round pick. Will be a great surprise for whoever gets him though.
Lots of talent, but not ready yet. It is a major hit that you’re stuck without Sam Bradford, but the pornstache wonder was not all bad. Take another year to grow, build up your name, and avoid the wide receiver rich draft of 2010, because trust me, you won’t go any higher than the fourth round at best. With all these underclassmen leaving, you’ll still have to compete with Jacoby Ford, Eric Decker, Brandon Lafell, Jordan Shipley, and Mardy Gilyard.
Prediction: one more year to make some noise in Norman.
