SEC FANTASY SNAPSHOT

ALABAMA

Best Bet: RB Mark Ingram
Ingram had a great fantasy year in 2009 and also took home the Heisman Trophy. He should be a workhorse once again this fall, but will probably lose some carries to Trent Richardson.

Sleeper Potential: RB Trent Richardson
Richardson had an impressive freshman campaign and should expand upon that in 2010. There is a real possibility that Bama could be sporting two 1000 yards rushers this season.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the passing game be a fantasy factor?
The combination of Greg McElroy and Julio Jones has a chance to be very productive this fall.

ARKANSAS

Best Bet: QB Ryan Mallett
This big signal caller burst onto the scene last year and should be even better in the Hogs offense this season. He should be a quality starter for owners in most league formats.

Sleeper Potential: RB Ronnie Wingo Jr.
Although the Hogs backfield is crowded going into the fall, Wingo looks to have possibly earned the starting spot and could put up some quality numbers.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Just how good will the Arkansas offense be in 2010?
It might be hard to improve on 36 points per game, but with all the weapons that the Hogs have coming back, the sky could be the limit.

AUBURN

Best Bet: WR Darvin Adams
The Tigers leading WR comes back and could easily expand upon his 2009 numbers.

Sleeper Potential: QB Cameron Newton
Newton looks to be a perfect fit for Gus Malzahn’s up-tempo offense. He brings a ton of athleticism to the position and could post some nice numbers.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Is this the year Mario Fannin finally puts it all together and is a viable fantasy option?
The reports from spring ball have been glowing and he looks to be in line to be the starter to open the year. Uber-recruit Michael Dyer could eat into his carries, though.

FLORIDA

Best Bet: QB John Brantley
Brantley looked great this spring and should provide the Gators with an improved passing game.

Sleeper Potential: WR Chris Rainey
Rainey was moved from RB to WR this spring. He should be trouble for defenses when he catches the ball in space and could have a bunch of big plays this year.

Biggest Fantasy Question: How much different will the Gators offense be post Tim Tebow?
There will certainly be differences this season with a better passer at QB and the running backs getting more carries that used to be for the QB position.

GEORGIA

Best Bet: WR AJ Green
Green will be breaking in a new QB, but he is the most talented player on the Dawgs offense and should be featured prominently.

Sleeper Potential: RB Washaun Ealey
Ealey showed flashes during his freshman year and could be even better in 2010. A 1000- yard season is entirely possible for this Dawg.

Biggest Fantasy Question: What can fantasy owners expect from the Georgia QB position?
Redshirt freshman Aaron Murray's development will be key to the fantasy value of his teammates.

KENTUCKY

Best Bet: WR Randall Cobb
The do it all Cobb is the main cog in the Wildcats offense and could be even more involved this season. He will likely be one of the Top 10-20 on most draft boards in many league formats.

Sleeper Potential: RB Derrick Locke
Locke had a sneaky good fantasy season in 2009 and could easily be even better this fall.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Kentucky passing game be a fantasy factor in 2010?
The return of Mike Hartline is a step in the right direction, but they will have to be much better to have any fantasy relevance.

LSU

Best Bet:  QB Jordan Jefferson
Jefferson has been adequate so far in his career but needs to take his game to a higher level to be a consistent fantasy option.

Sleeper Potential: RB Michael Ford
Ford has been all the rage during the spring for the Tigers. He is a very sexy pick to break out this year.

Biggest Fantasy Question: How will Russell Shepard be used in the offense?
The coaching staff seems committed to getting the ball in Sheppard’s hands any way possible this year. We just might have another Randall Cobb on our hands.

MISSISSIPPI

Best Bet: QB Jeremiah Masoli
Masoli lands in Oxford after a rocky offseason out in Oregon.  He should be the starter at some point in the season and would make a decent spot starter when the match up is right.

Sleeper Potential: RB Enrique Davis
Davis was a highly touted recruit who has never lived up to the billing. He got good reviews this spring and may have turned things around.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Rebels produce any worthy fantasy options in 2010?
Houston Nutt usually has good offensive teams, but this squad may be the exception. Fantasy owners beware.

MISSISSIPPI STATE

Best Bet: There don’t appear to be any best bets for the Bulldogs coming out of spring ball.

Sleeper Potential: QB Chris Relf
Relf is engaged in a heated battle for the starting position with Tyler Russell. While both may play this season, Relf brings a real rushing threat to the table.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will replace Anthony Dixon?
Robert Elliott, Montrell Connor, and Vick Ballard should all vie for playing time.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Best Bet: WR Alshon Jeffrey
Assuming Jeffery keeps his nose in the books, he should be a solid fantasy contributor in 2010.

Sleeper Potential: RB Marcus Lattimore
The #1 ranked RB recruit should contend for a starting role right away. The kid has the talent and ability to be special.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the South Carolina offense be more fantasy friendly than the past couple of seasons?
The return of Stephen Garcia, Alshon Jeffrey, and arrival of Marcus Lattimore are a good way to get started.

TENNESSEE

Best Bet: RB Tauren Poole
Poole should be the main man in the Volunteer backfield this season. He had a nice spring and could become a nice option in BCS-only leagues.

Sleeper Potential: WR Gerald Jones
The Vols leading receiver is back and should be a playmaker.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will win the starting QB job?
Matt Simms and Tyler Bray are battling for the starting gig. This probably won’t be decided until August.

VANDERBILT

Best Bet: RB Warren Norman
Norman led the Commodores in rushing as a freshman and should be their biggest playmaker this season.

Sleeper Potential: RB Zac Stacy
The 2nd leading ground gainer returns and should form a nice 1-2 punch with Norman.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Commodores produce any viable fantasy players?
Warren Norman and Zac Stacy should help get the offense going in the right direction.
