Week 1 is here and its time to start looking at some of my favorite picks for the week. Some of these players have cheap prices, others have great match-ups. All salary cap prices are based off of Head-2-Head Sports’ salary range.

Best Bets

Trent Richardson, Alabama –
Richardson has gone from a back-up with a $9.7 million price tag, to a full-fledged starter with a $9.7 million price tag. Mark Ingram should miss a couple of weeks before he’s back to his old shelf. Grab Richardson now before his price goes up.

DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma – Murray should shred the Utah State defense. Murray has decent value for a top notch RB at $13.8 million. Expect a huge day on the ground and in the air.

Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina – Despite the lack of solid play at QB from South Carolina, their week 1 match-up with Southern Miss looks nice. If there’s one player that will benefit the most from the talent difference it will be Jeffery on the outside. The Southern Miss secondary will have their hands full with Jeffery, and you gotta love his $8.1 million price tag.

Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State – I’m not a huge fan of starting rookie QBs, but hosting Washington State in the opener can change your mind pretty quick! It will take a slight leap of faith to pay his $17.2 million price right off the bat, but Weeden looks to be a solid play in week 1. He also looks nice in the following two weeks as he faces Troy and Tulsa.

Adam Robinson, Iowa – If you need a one week spot start, or are desperate to fit guys in under the cap – then Robinson is the answer. At the low-low price of $5.2 million Robinson looks to deliver a top notch week 1 performance while Jewel Hampton serves a one game suspension.

Time To Ride ‘Em

John Clay, Wisconsin
– Clay has a great batch of games coming up. Clay will open up at UNLV, then host San Jose State, Arizona State, and Austin Peay before traveling to Michigan State. Then in week 6 Clay’s juicy run finishes off with Minnesota at home. Although Clay does command a higher price tag of $14.6 million, he is worth every penny over these first 6 weeks.
