The Dawgfather posted a monstrous (get it, monster-Halloween) record of 7-0 for week 9 predictions. I will be using that new found strut to scare the neighborhood kids this Halloween. Are you brave enough to venture to The Dawgfather’s house for a little trick-or-treat fun?

My season record of 16-3 (.840) is scary indeed, only appropriate for the Dawg’s favorite holiday. Trick or treat everyone!

Oregon (6-2) vs. California (5-2)

The headline game of the conference pits two of the four teams sitting at the top of the standings. Oregon has had their offense clicking the last two weeks behind Jeremiah “Motorlegs Masoli.” Oregon’s rushing duo may be reduced to one since the extent of “Jeremiah-was-a-Bullfrog” Johnson’s shoulder injury in unknown at this point. Even with Johnson out, the passing attack of the Ducks has improved behind the play of Chris “Hot-Hands-Harper” and should be called on against the Bears. California on the other hand is struggling on offense without consistent play from the QB position, and Jahvid “Best-In-Show” appears to have an injured foot. The Bears’ defense kept them afloat last week against UCLA, but will that be enough for Tedford’s Titans this week? The Dawgfather’s Pick – That Team From Eugene keeps the road winning ways up, and rolls into Berkley like the old WWF Road Warriors tag team. “Whooooooooaaaaaa, what-a-rush!”

Washington (0-7) vs. USC (6-1)

Pete Carroll might be losing sleep this week, knowing that Washington has had the ball in a position to win or tie the game the last two years. As bad as the Huskies have been the last two years they have played USC tougher than most teams in the country. The Trojan defense was absolutely dominant last week, and expect to see the offense look dominant this week. “The Amazing Mark” Sanchez will come through against a recently pesky Huskies secondary. With the USC backfield in a shuffle, its hard to see how well they will do. But look for Stafon Johnson to put up the biggest numbers. Poor Ty Willingham has had to fall onto his sword, and now the speculation about who will take over begins. Until the Dawgfather sheds light on that topic, I’m going to see how my boys will fight for the man that brought them to Washington. The Dawgfather’s Pick – The Huskies pull out their best effort of the year to get their first win for Dry Ty. YAH RIGHT, Carroll’s Crusaders pound the Mush Puppies into the turf!

Arizona State (2-5) vs. Oregon State (4-3)

Oregon State is coming off a bye week and are ready to get back into the Pac-10 fight while the Sun Devils are ready for Basketball season to start! The She Devils can’t do anything on offense, and it all starts with good ‘ol “Rudy-INT” Carpenter. I’m sure “Dirty Dennis” Erickson is already updating his resume for his offseason departure! “The Quizz” Rodgers is ready to rumble again, and should slip-n-slide his way through the Sun Devil-D. Don’t bet the farm on “The Throwin’ Samoan” Moevao this week, since the Sun Devil secondary has been good this year. Turnovers will be the key in this match-up. Since the Beav’s will damn the ball up on their end, guess who will be coughing it up? The Dawgfather’s Pick – Arizona State will learn that the road signs with “RxR” on them have nothing to do with trains. It’s a warning to incoming teams that you are in a Rodgers & Rodgers crossing zone. Beav’s win this one in the second half as the She Devil-D wears down from being on the field too long.

Washington State (1-7) vs. Stanford (4-4)

Poor Paul Wulff. Last weekend he was able to enjoy a victory over the Freshmen Girl’s Powder Puff squad, but now he has to face a real football team again. The Cougs are giving up an average of 266 yards rushing per game, just what the top rush offense in the Pac-10 likes to see! Expect a HUGE day from Toby “Fifth-Gear-hart.” The Cougs provide the Cardinal a perfect tune-up game to try and get the passing attack up and flying again. Don’t expect anything big in the air, only more efficient stats than we have become accustomed to seeing. The fantasy drought of Brandon “Gib-me-some-lovin” will continue despite the new “wild hog” offensive package that should have some new wrinkles in it after the bye week. The Dawgfather’s Pick – The Dawgfather could run through the Cougs’ defense, even with my two bad knees! Harbaugh’s Heroes follow through on their plan to break out!

Arizona (5-3) vs. BYE

Some people think the bye week comes at a good time for the Wildcats, coming off a tough loss. The Dawgfather says hogwash! The hardest thing to do after a tough loss is get your team built back up fast. It helps when you have another big game, but when you’re on the bye week teams have the tendency to sleep walk through it. This is what the Dawg sees happening to Stoops’ Troops. The only good thing that will come from this week is that Keola Antolin will have time to let his sprained shoulder heal. Maybe someone can introduce “The Gronk” to a touchdown this week, since I don’t think they have met in a while. Beware of week 11 Mike Stoops, your team will play flat. You can take that one to the bank! The Dawgfather’s Pick – After sleep walking for 3 ½ quarters the Wildcat offense finally wakes up behind Willie “Tui-TD-tama” and the ‘Cats win one by a whisker.

UCLA (3-5) vs. BYE

I’m not sure what is scarier, being hunted down by Michael Myers or having Rick Neuhiesel and Norm Chow over your shoulder for an entire bye week? Kevin “The Craftman” will be getting it in stereo this week after his 4 INT performance against Cal. I’m sure by Friday the coaches will begin to sound like the teacher from the Peanuts cartoons. Forget all the positive reports coming out of LA, Kahlil “Ring-the-Bell” will not be running at full steam come week 11. Too much damage over the weeks with too little rest means the bell will ring because the Ref has said Kahlil is done. The Dawgfather’s Pick – After falling behind at the half behind 6 Craft INTs, Neuhiesel suits up in Craft’s gear and rallies the Bruins to a win in the Rose Bowl; just like the good old days!

Lead Dawg

“The Lead Dawgs”
Best Week 10 Match-Ups

*Mark Sanchez (QB USC) – The last two weeks the Husky secondary has held Lyle Moevao and Jimmy Clausen to lower numbers than the experts predicted. The Dawgfather still thinks Sanchez will do better than the last two QBs, but if you are not in a Pac-10 league it would be best to go with another option.
*Toby Gerhart (RB Stanford) – This is a no-brainer. You gotta play Gerhart against the most pathetic run defense in the Pac-10!
*Oregon State (Defense) – Here’s a new one for you, a defense as a Lead Dawg. If you can’t tell by now, I have no faith in Rudy Carpenter. The Beav’s have a good enough pass rush to force him to throw under duress, and the experienced secondary will take advantage of the bad throws. This will reap big rewards for people looking for a spot defense this week.

Dawghouse

“In the Dawghouse”
Worst Week 10 Match-Ups

*Tyrone Willingham (HC Washington) – I have to lead of the Dawghouse list with Dry Ty after he was fired this week. Yes I said that right-fired, not resigned. The hunt for his replacement has been going on for a couple of weeks now. Its too early to say who may emerge as the new head man in Montlake, but the guys that are in the crosshairs of the administration are Texas DC Will Muschamp, and Utah HC Kyle Whittingham. Do not expect to see Jim Mora, Jr. walk away from the Seahawk coaching job to take over at his alma-mater.
*Tavita Pritchard (QB Stanford) – Yes I see Pritchard playing better than he has in weeks, the problem is he won’t have the volume of throws to matter in fantasy football. Efficient play on the field and good fantasy scores can be two different things.
*California QBs – Once against I have the California duo of Riley and Longshore in the Dawghouse, where they will stay until further notice. I want to see these guys play up to their ability for more than a one week “flash in the ban” performance.

Visting the Vet

“Visiting the Vet”
Injury Updates

*Ben Olson – QB UCLA (broken foot, on bye week, started limited practice)
*Jahvid Best – RB California (foot, expected to play)
*Jeremiah Johnson – RB Oregon (shoulder, was injury during practice, status unknown)
*Keola Antolin – RB Arizona (sprained shoulder, on bye week, practiced in only non-contact drills)
*Kahlil Green – RB UCLA (ankle, says the bye week has made ankle better, believe it when you see it)
*Jacquizz Rodgers – RB Oregon State (leg injury, on bye week, status unknown)
*Joe McKnight – RB USC (toe injury, 5 rushes for 16 yards on Saturday)
*Kahlil Bell – RB UCLA (ankle, played but was very poor in California game)
*Kyle Williams – WR Arizona State (concussion, doubtful for Oregon State game)
*Kavario Middleton – TE Washington (knee, did not dress last week, status unknown.)
