Want to know what’s been happening with some of the most important fantasy football position battles over the last week? We’ve got you covered with all the latest news and analysis from around the country.

QUARTERBACK BATTLES

Michigan

The Participants: Tate Forcier, Denard Robinson
The Skinny: Forcier has been the golden boy in Ann Arbor since arriving on campus in January, but Denard Robinson is making plays this camp and might be hard to keep off the field.
The Leader: Tate Forcier

Tulsa

The Participants: Jacob Bower, G.J. Kinne, Shavodrick Beaver
The Skinny: Very little news comes out of Tulsa, but it appears that by the end of this weekend the QB race will be narrowed to 2 players. We expect Shvodrick Beaver to be the odd man out. The team’s first scrimmage will have a lot to say in this first decision on the race.
The Leader: Jacob Bower / G.J. Kinne

USC

The Participants: Aaron Corp, Matt Barkley, Mitch Mustain
The Skinny: Aaron Corp cracked his left fibula, and will now miss 1-2 weeks. Matt Barkley will now run with the 1st team and Mitch Mustain will run with the 2nd team in Corp’s absence.
The Leader: Matt Barkley

RUNNING BACK BATTLES

Georgia

The Participants: Caleb King, Richard Samuel, Carlton Thomas
The Skinny: Coaches are looking at a possible RBBC situation popping up in 2009. In the team’s first scrimmage Samuel was the star while King struggled to find running room.
The Leader: Caleb King

Iowa

The Participants: Jewel Hampton, Jeff Brinson, Brandon Wegher
The Skinny: After injuring his knee in summer workouts, Jewel Hampton says he’s 90-95% as camp opened this week. Very little information has come out about Hampton’s ability in these early practices. But Jeff Brinson made ground in the battle with his great spring performance.
The Leader: Jewel Hampton

Michigan State

The Participants: Edwin Baker, Larry Caper, Ashton Leggett, Glenn Winston
The Skinny: Freshmen Edwin Baker and Larry Caper had been receiving reps with the first two offensive teams since camp has opened. Leggett waits to make an impact and crack the top two spots and Winston has just been reinstated on the team.
The Leader: Edwin Baker / Larry Caper

South Carolina

The Participants: Jarvis Giles, Brian Maddox, Kenny Miles
The Skinny: In the team’s first scrimmage the RBs struggled to gain yards. Miles was the leading rusher with 40 yards on 9 carries.
The Leader: Jarvis Giles

Texas

The Participants: Cody Johnson, Foswhitt Whittaker, Vondrell McGee, Chris Whaley
The Skinny: No returning running back was able to establish a lead in the position battle during the spring. This has left the door open to in-coming freshman Chris Whaley to enter the fold. As fall camp opened, Cody Johnson was officially listed as the starting RB.
The Leader: Cody Johnson

Tulsa

The Participants: Charles Clay, Jamad Williams
The Skinny: The coaches named Charles Clay the workhorse back at the end of spring camp, but both Clay and Jamad Williams will be given first crack at the bulk of the carries in the offense.
The Leader: Charles Clay

Virginia Tech

The Participants: David Wilson, Ryan Williams, Zac Evans
The Skinny: 2008 leading rusher Darren Evans tore his left ACL Tuesday, opening the door to three talented young runners. After the team’s first scrimmage all three remaining RBs are still closely packed.
The Leader: David Wilson / Ryan Williams

WIDE RECEIVER BATTLES

HAWAII

The Participants: Jovante Taylor, Royce Pollard
The Skinny: Returning starter Malcolm Lane will redshirt the 2009 season to focus on academics. Taylor split eps with Lane during the spring, and is considered the fastest WR. But Pollard has been making plays in fall camp and is in the running.
The Leader: Jovante Taylor

TEXAS TECH

The Participants: Outsider WRs – Edward Britton, Lyle Leong, Alex Torres, Eric Ward, Adrian Reese, Jacoby Franks
The Skinny: Coaches are hoping to find 4 guys to play at the two outside WR positions. The competition is very tight right now. Leong is playing behind Britton, but he is gaining praise from the coaches. Don’t be surprised if he moves to the other side to battle Torres and Franks.
The Leader: Outside WRs - Edward Britton, Alex Torres / Jacoby Franks
***update*** - The four wide receivers that top the depth chart are Detron Lewis, Alex Torres, Tramain Swindall and Lyle Leong.  Torres is starting at the coveted Z (flanker) position, and Leong is starting at the X (split end).

TIGHT END BATTLES

La-Lafayette

The Participants: Luke Aubrey, Ladarius Green
The Skinny: The talented Green has a chance to become the starter, but a recent bout of dropping passes is holding back his chances of beating out the seasoned Senior Aubrey.
The Leader: Luke Aubrey

Tulsa

The Participants: Jake Collums, Clay Sears
The Skinny: Collumns enters spring as the starting TE but converted WR Sears is pushing for the starting job.
The Leader: Jake Collums

Washington

The Participants: Kavario Middleton, Chris Izbicki
The Skinny: Chris Izbicki took advantage of the momentum he built in spring camp to enter the fall as the #1 TE on the depth chart. Middleton is right behind him, and in the spring both TEs were used in 2 TE formations heavily.
The Leader: Chris Izbicki / Kavario Middleton
