It's hard to believe, but we've already reached the mid-way point of the college fantasy football season.  Here's a look at biggest surprises and disappointments at the RB position so far.

More Mid-Term Reports:
Quarterbacks
Running Backs
Wide Receivers
Tight Ends

Surprises:

1.     Henry Josey, Missouri
588 yards, 5 TD
The Mizzou running back situation was a huge question mark coming into 2011. Not anymore. Josey has taken the reigns of the starting job and did not disappoint. He is in the top 20 in yards and has been getting an increased amount of carries. Look for him to keep up the pace and top 1,000 yards before all is said and done.

2.     Bernard Pierce, Temple
692 yards, 15 TD
It really is nice to see Pierce running the way he is now, after being injured for a good portion of 2010. He is finally getting the majority of the carries over Matt Brown, and is making the best of them. Pierce leads the nation in rushing touchdowns and there really is no reason to think that the production should take any kind of dip with the style of offense Temple runs.

3.     Branden Oliver, Buffalo
679 yards, 8 TD
Finally, Buffalo is getting back to running the football like they did a few years ago with James Starks in the backfield. A lot of the credit is probably due to having a halfway-decent quarterback at the helm in former Cincy transfer Chazz Anderson. He and Oliver are really the only threats on the ground so look for Oliver to remain one of the top rushers in the nation.

Honorable Mention:
- Anthon Samuel (Bowling Green), Jawan Chisholm (Akron), Giovanni Bernard (UNC), Brandon Rutley (San Jose St.), John White (Utah), Lyle McCombs (UConn), Dominique Whaley (Oklahoma)

Disappointments:

1.     Victor Anderson, Louisville
155 yards, 1 TD, 1 receiving TD
With a questionable QB situation, Louisville was sure to be a running football team. That has not happened as the offensive line is dealing with a rash of injuries, as is their top running back in Anderson. He is dealing with injuries himself, but wasn’t getting the job done when in the lineup. I don’t see his production getting any better and would drop him immediately if still on your roster.

2.     Edwin Baker, Michigan State
252 yards, 1 TD
Baker is the best running back on one of the best running teams in the nation, yet he has not topped 100 yards yet this season. Yes, they’ve had a bye week and their offensive line is poor to say the least, but nobody could have expected this. I don’t see him performing this bad the entire year, and he could get healthy quick against a questionable Michigan D.

3.     Orleans Darkwa, Tulane
364 yards, 6 TD
I truly expected these numbers to be double what they are currently. Darkwa finished 2010 on a roll, but has yet to really get in a groove this year. He has only one game of over 100 yards rushing, while also having just a 10-yard rushing performance against Duke. His averages have improved the past two games, and they are about to get back into conference play where Darkwa did most of his damage last year.

Honorable Mention:
- Brandon Williams (Oklahoma), Ryan Bass (Idaho), Sterling Jackson (Hawaii), Raymond Sanders (Kentucky), Montel Harris (Boston College), Brandon Bolden (Ole Miss)
