Jumping in the DeLorean - On the Quest for a Redraft |
“With my first round pick, I’ll take Donald Brown. Running back, UConn.”
I uttered those words this morning at my college fantasy football draft, just after revving up the ol’ flux capacitor and setting my DeLorean’s time machine back to 08-24-08.
Ah, if we could just get our hands on that DeLorean. We could actually go back in time and fix all those problems with our college fantasy squads. With five weeks of knowledge under our belts, we’d know better than to select Arian Foster high in the draft (or anywhere in the draft, for that matter). We’d know all about the deep bombs Josh Freeman would be tossing to Brandon Banks. We’d avoid Tebow in the Top 3. Yes, if we had just a few minutes in that DeLorean, we’d know it all, and we’d draft accordingly. Hey, we’d even have a zany adventure along the way - we’d get to punch out that bully Biff, and try to avoid a skeevy makeout session with our future Mom.
But sadly, Marty McFly only exists in the movies, and we are stuck with the college fantasy football teams we drafted back in August.
Since we flipped the page on the calendar over to October today, we thought it would be a good time to evaluate and reflect. So join us after the jump, where we list top fantasy performers to date and highlight a few over-and-underachievers.
Below are the top QB’s, RB’s and WR’s through week 5 (based on average points per game). The number in BLUE is our preseason ranking, assigned to “overachievers” - players who are performing at least 20 spots better than our preseason ranking. The number in RED
is our preseason ranking for an “unnderachiever” - is a player who is performing at least 20 spots worse than our preseason ranking.
