Syracuse clears missed a key PAT, but it counts
We could feel it coming. We were due. And it happened.
The injury bug hit the college football world hard today, burning fantasy owners nationwide. If you had Kenny Stills, Darrin Moore, Adonis Thomas or Cole Beasley in your starting lineup, you certainly know what I am talking about.
Here's a quick rundown of some of Saturday's top injury-related headlines. We'll provide a full weekend recap on Monday.
* SMU wide receiver Cole Beasley injured his right knee and was wearing an air cast. He caught 3 balls for 50 yards before the injury.
* Toledo RB Adonis Thomas broke his arm and is likely out at least three or four weeks.
* Texas Tech WR Darrin Moore hurt his ankle on the team's second drive of the game. There are conflicting reports on Moore's health. While he did not return to the game, some are reporting that he was jogging a bit on the sideline after the injury.
* Florida International WR T.Y. Hilton played against UL-Lafayette, but was clearly hampered by his hamstring injury from a week ago. He did not return kicks, and was limited to 3 catches for 32 yards.
* Oh, and about the news that Tulsa QB G.J. Kinne was going to miss two to four weeks with a torn MCL? Forget about it. The dude manned up and played into the fourth quarter. Granted, he didn't really play that well, but he played. Kinne is a warrior. Props to him for gutting it out.
Back to Toledo. Not only did they lose Thomas for what appears to be at least a month, they also got jobbed by the refs on an extra point that shouldn't have counted. It came back to haunt them. With the score 29-27 and just over two minutes left in regulation, Syracuse lined up for a PAT to make it 30-27. The kick clearly misses, but the refs counted it. They even reviewed it and still put the point on the board. Toledo, of course, went down the field and kicked a game-tying PAT to send the game to overtime.
