California @ Minnesota, Saturday, 12:00 PM EST

California: Jahvid Best, Kevin Riley and Shane Vereen.
Watch for….A go to receiver.  All this offensive talent in Berkeley and no go-to wide out.  Somebody has to step up at some point, right?

Minnesota: Adam Weber, Duane Bennett and Eric Decker.
Watch for….Adam Weber.  For this to turn into a shootout, Weber must be brilliant.  He has the talent to make that happen.  If the line gives him time he COULD have a big day.

Bottom Line: Some would say I was crazy for even mentioning this game, however, I believe that Weber will have to chuck it 45+ times to keep it competitive.

FSU @ BYU, Saturday, 7:00 PM EST

FSU: Christian Ponder, Jarmon Fortson and Richard Goodman.
Watch for…O-Line Play.  If given time Ponder will throw for big numbers in Provo.  FSU hasn’t had a run game since Warrick Dunn’s departure so Ponder will have to throw, throw and throw some more.

BYU:  Max Hall, McKay Jacobson, Dennis Pitta and Harvey Unga.
Watch for….Max Hall.  If Hall can stay upright he will go for big numbers.  Labor day proved the Noles’ can be thrown on.  If Jacory Harris can go for 350+ on the road, what can Hall do at home?

Bottom Line: This should be good.  I am calling for 300+ yards from both Ponder and Hall.  Both Def Coordinators will try and try to get as many stops as possible because their won’t be many of them.

UAB @ Troy, Saturday, 3:30 PM EST

UAB: Joe Webb, Frantrell Forest and Mark Ferrell.
Watch for…..Mark Ferrell.  Quietly becoming a dual threat in this offense.  Last week had 80 td run to go with 45 yds receiving.

Troy: Levi Brown, DuJuan Harris, Jerrel Jernigan and Tebiarus Gill.
Watch for….The whole offense.  I understand that Bowling Green is no slouch and going to Gainesville is well…….impossible, but the Trojans haven’t done anything in two weeks.  If Troy is going to break out of it’s funk, there’s no better team to face than the Blazers.

Bottom Line: I do wish I could be in my home state to see this one.  Points will be a plenty in this one.  The winner will need to put up 30+ points.

Texas Tech @ Texas, Saturday, 8:00 PM EST

Texas Tech:  Taylor Potts, Baron Batch, Detron Lewis(?), Edward Britton and Lyle Leong.
Watch for….Baron Batch.  Not much love at all last week.  However, is the mad scientist we know as Coach Leach saving him for this week.  We know what Potts will do.  Batch, on the other hand, not so much.

Texas: Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley and James Kirkendoll.
Watch for…..The running game.  So who will it be this week?  McGee, Newton perhaps Cody Johnson?  Your guess is as good as mine.  Keep an eye out to see if anybody gets separation here.  This is a gold mine if somebody steps up to be the lead “Horn”.

Bottom Line: You know exactly what to expect here so I won’t bore you with the obvious.  The Texas Colt and Potts will go toe-to-toe.  Both teams should put up lots of points.  Look for Texas to exact revenge from last year’s 39-33 loss.
