Week 2 is here, and I hate to say it but it's completely void of compelling matchups.
We had the typical Big East slop last night in the form of Pitt and Cincy. Tonight you get an in-state rivalry. No, not Alabama-Auburn, Oklahoma State-Oklahoma or Michigan State-Michigan. You get Utah-Utah State. Meh.
This weekend doesn't pit ANY ranked teams going head-to-head. Not good for your viewing pleasure. But possible very good for your college fantasy football pleasure.
Here's what we'll be watching on Saturday...
Miami (FL) at Kansas State
Question: Can The Duke (Johnson) do it again? Will he see a bigger workload or is the coaching staff comfortable with his allotted 12-14 touches per game?
Ball State at Clemson
In the final week without Sammy Watkins, will DeAndre Hopkins continue to take advantage of his opportunity as the clear cut WR1? Will Andre Ellington continue his torrid pace?
Eastern Washington at Washington
No need to comment. I think we ALL know what we're looking for here.
Western Kentucky at Alabama
Will we continue to see RBBC from the Tide? Can stud freshman RB T.J. Yeldon continue is ascent up the depth chart?
Air Force at Michigan
Will Shoelace make his fantasy owners happy with one of those electric performances? Will Fitzgerald Toussaint see workhorse-type numbers?
Florida at Texas A&M
Will Kevin Sumlin's high powered offense suffer the same dismal season-opening fate as Houston and Wazzu?
Iowa State at Iowa
Damon Bullock quietly rushed 30 times for 150 yards and a TD last week. What will he do for an encore?
USF at Nevada
The dynamic duo of Cody Fajardo and Stefphon Jefferson torched Cal last week. Can they make it 2-for-2 against a quality opponent?
Wisconsin at Oregon State
Will Montee Ball bounceback from a lackluster opening performance? Will Storm Woods look like the next great Beaver back?
Fresno State at Oregon
Mamba. Kenjon. Mario-TAH. Rouse. Davante. Carr. This is your CFG Fantasy Game Of The Week.
Florida A&M at Oklahoma
The Sooners are tough to figure out from a fantasy perspective. We're looking for a little clarity at the RB position, as well as at WR2. Can ya help a brutha out, Bobby Stoops?
Texas Tech at Texas State
The Red Raiders receiving corps is a muddled mess. Will the return of Darrin Moore to the starting lineup clear the water, so to speak? Or will we be left with more questions than answers after this one?
Georgia at Missouri
The first SEC test for fragile James Franklin. Can he make it through unscathed?
Vanderbilt at Northwestern
This is a sneaky good fantasy matchup. Michael Campanaro, Zac Stacy, Kain Colter, Vendric Marks are all fun to watch.
Louisiana Tech at Houston
Tech's opener was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac, so this is the first look we'll get of Colby Cameron, Hunter Lee, Quinton Patton and company. Can the Cougars rebound from an embarrassing effort last week? Let's see if new offensive coordinator is true to his word about getting the ball into the hands of RB Charles Sims.
Oklahoma State at Arizona
This one has the makings of a shootout in the desert. Who will step up at wide receiver for the Pokes? Will Arizona's Matt Scott and KaDeem Carey continue to remind us of Richrod's old pupils Pat White and Steve Slaton?
