COACHING CAROUSEL - Non-BCS Schools Akron - Rob Ianello Previous Gig: Assistant head coach, Notre Dame Fantasy Impact: Unknown. Ianello is more known for his recruiting than Xs and Os. Tough to gauge what kind of mark he and his staff will make on the Zips in 2010. File this one down under wait and see. Buffalo - Jeff Quinn Previous Gig

COACHING CAROUSEL - Non-BCS Schools

Akron - Rob Ianello

Previous Gig:  Assistant head coach, Notre Dame
Fantasy Impact: Unknown.  Ianello is more known for his recruiting than X’s and O’s.  Tough to gauge what kind of mark he and his staff will make on the Zips in 2010.  File this one down under “wait and see”.

Buffalo - Jeff Quinn

Previous Gig:  Offensive coordinator, Cincinnati
Fantasy Impact: Quinn has been attached at the hip to Brian Kelly during his ascent through the coaching ranks.  The dude has some offensive coaching chops, but he loses all of the Bulls playmakers from the past few years (Zach Maynard, James Starks, Naaman Roosevelt).  Don’t be surprised it Quinn has the Bulls scoring points in bunches in the coming seasons -- just give him some time.

Central Michigan - Dan Enos

Previous Gig:  RB coach, Michigan State
Fantasy Impact: This one is tough to gauge as the Chips lose Thunder Dan LeFevour and speedy wide receiver Antonio Brown to the NFL.  They were going to be weak from a fantasy standpoint before the coaching change was announced.  It will be interesting to see what kind of stamp Enos put on the offense.

East Carolina - Ruffin McNeill

Previous Gig:  Defensive Coordinator, Texas Tech
Fantasy Impact: McNeill brings Lincoln Riley along with him from Lubbock.  Riley was the inside WR coach for the Red Raiders, and is likely to have the Pirates airing it out from the day one.  WR’s Dwayne Harris and Darryl Freeney should be the beneficiaries of the new pass-heavy attack.

La Tech - Sonny Dykes

Previous Gig:  Offensive coordinator, Arizona
Fantasy Impact: Now this is an intriguing hire.  Dykes has ties to fantasy coaching legends Hal Mumme and Mike Leach, and will be installing a similar high-flying aerial attack in Ruston.  He adds former Middle Tennesse offensive coordinator Tony Franklin into the mix as well.  This is one of the more interesting new offensive coaching staffs in the country.  The question is:  how long will it take for the offense to take shape?

Marshall - Doc Holliday

Previous Gig:  Associate head coach, West Virginia
Fantasy Impact: Holliday is another coach who is better known for his recruiting prowess than his game-planning and scheming.  His new offensive coordinator is Billy Legg, formerly of FIU and Purdue.  He’s best known for his co-OC duties in West Lafayette where he delivered potent offenses in 2006 and 2007 (291.6 and 307.2 passing yards per game, respectively).  Look for Clemson-transfer Willy Korn to thrive in this offense, especially if WR Antavious Wilson can build on his impressive freshman campaign.

Memphis - Larry Porter

Previous Gig:  RB coach, LSU
Fantasy Impact:  Porter is a Memphis alum with a ton of experience coaching running backs.  Teamed with new offensive coordinator Eric Price (formerly WR coach - Kansas City Chiefs & OC - UTEP), they could do some good things with this offense.  The beneficiaries of the new offensive coaching style figure to be running backs Gregory Ray and Jerrell Rhodes and quarterbacks Tyler Bass and Cannon Smith.

San Jose State - Mike MacIntyre

Previous Gig:  Defensive coordinator, Duke
Fantasy Impact: This hire does nothing to pique the interest of college fantasy football zealots.

UL-Monroe - Todd Berry

Previous Gig:  Offensive coordinator, UNLV
Fantasy Impact: Berry was a head coach at Army earlier this decade, and served as offensive coordinator for UNLV and UL-Monroe in the past.  So the good news here is that he’s an offensive guy.  The bad news is that he hasn’t dazzled anywhere he’s been.  Kolton Browning looks to be his quarterback in 2010, which is a mild surprise given that Trey Revell looked promising at times last fall.  What does Berry see in Browning?  We shall find out.  Also interesting will be to see how much the new coach leans on veteran running back Frank Goodin.

UNLV - Bobby Hauck

Previous Gig:  Head coach, Montana
Fantasy Impact: This is a big step up for Hauck, jumping from the Big Sky to the Mountain West.  Montana was a juggernaut on the FCS level in recent years, and put up a ton of yards and points.  Last season, Hauck’s Grizzlies squad passed for 3,730 yards and 36 TDs, their leading rushing pounded his way to 1,503 yards and 22 TDs, and their leading receiver posted a stellar 81-1495-13 statline.  It will be interesting to see how Hauck utilizes his new offensive weapons: QB Omar Clayton, RB Channing Trotter and WR Phillip Payne.

Western Kentucky - Willie Taggart

Previous Gig:  RB coach at Stanford
Fantasy Impact:Taggart coached Toby Gerhart to fantasy glory over the past two years.  This bodes well for the Hilltopper’s returning leading rusher, Bobby Rainey.
