Joe Arpasi's Analysis

My Draft Strategy:
I wanted to see how things would play out if I placed a heavy emphasis on RBs. I wanted to draft 3 RBs in the first 5 rounds, then try to draft for value as I look for guys that slipped in the draft. Although I like the strength of this approach for RB, it also allowed me to sit back and draft a smaller amount of RBs after those first five rounds. Since many of our readers know the sleepers that I like, it was hard to land some of the QBs and WRs I was hoping to land.

My Favorite Pick:
WR Tracy Moore, Oklahoma State (08.05) – This was the exact time to strike on Moore. I could not have waited any longer and landed him. Considering my draft strategy, I was very happy to land a big name sleeper here.

Second Thoughts:
QB Taylor Potts, Texas Tech (09.08) – QBs were going fast and I needed to land a QB3 that had some upside. Potts has a slight edge after the first scrimmage. I’m not totally sold on Potts, but I didn’t think I could afford to wait any longer to get a QB3.

The One That Got Away
Just six picks before I took Potts, Steven Ensminger was snapped up. I was waiting on Ensminger in that 9th round spot and it would have been a much better fantasy play than Potts. But I should have known better than to let Todd have a chance at him.

Best Value Picks

14.07 Mario Fannin (RB, Auburn)- I would have taken Fannin if I still had a roster spot for him. Fannin was just plain forgotten about, and at least one of our drafters was smart enough to snatch Fannin up.

12.05 Bert Reed (WR, Florida State) – Reed’s fantasy value has grown with the dismissal of Jarmon Fortson. Reed looks to be QB Ponder’s primary target.

08.07 Alshon Jeffery (WR, South Carolina) – It was not a real deep selection, but I really like the value Jeffery brings compared to the others that were still on the board. Plus Jeffery provides a very high ceiling for the 2010 season.

Head Scratchers:

01.01 Jacquizz Rodgers (RB, Oregon State) – Yes you read that right, Rodgers was taken #1 overall. I love Quizz, but there’s no way you can pass on Keenum here.

05.03 Darius Willis (RB, Indiana) – Willis is a nice sleeper for BCS only leagues, but he is not a 5th round selection in an all 120 draft. Even if Willis stays healthy it still won’t justify taking him at this point of the draft.

09.01 DJ Williams (TE, Arkansas) – TEs were just starting to go off the board when Williams was selected. The theme this year for TE is don’t reach for one. Williams going in the 9th round is a definite reach.

Todd DeVries' Analysis

My Draft Strategy:
In the #2 hole, I wanted to try an unorthodox method of drafting in this mock.  Instead of locking down a couple top RBs in the early rounds, I decided to go QB-WR-WR.  I wanted to see what kind of RB mess I would be in if I tried this risky strategy.  Could I dig myself out of the hole?  Or would this be further confirmation that ignoring RB in the first three rounds is draft suicide?

My Favorite Pick:
QB Steven Ensminger, La Tech (09.02) – This is a sexy pick given the recent news of him winning the starting QB job.  La Tech figures to be throwing the rock all over the place this fall.

Second Thoughts:
QB Jamie Hampton, Troy (14.11) – As a QB4, Hampton is worth the risk here.  Why this is a “second thought” is that I failed to realize that one of my favorite WR sleepers (SMU Darius Johnson) was still on the board.  Socceroos snagged him a few picks later, prompting a Homer Simpson-esque “Doh!” from me.

The One That Got Away
In round 12, I had two WRs on my target list, Stanford’s Chris Owusu and La Tech’s Ahmad Paige.  Both were taken just before me by savvy owners Socceroos (again) and Beidleman.

Best Value Picks

15.10 George Bryan (TE, NC State) – CFGer Kevin Mount waited to draft his TE, and it paid off.  Bryan is a surefire Top 10 TE prospect.

10.04 Martin Ward (RB, Marshall) – Ward has nice upside, and is a very solid pick at this point in the draft especially when you compare him to some of the RBs that went in rounds 7-9.

15.07 Austen Arnaud (QB, Iowa State) – I still believe Arnaud is still a good value pick in the later rounds.  Sure, his schedule is tough.  But if you have the luxury of stashing him on your roster as a QB4, he still has 6 or 7 good match plays.

Head Scratchers:

I agree with Joe above on Quizz and Willis.  Another one that raised an eyebrow….

07.11 Charles Clay (RB, Tulsa) – While Clay holds fantasy value in PPR leagues (like this mock), I believe he could’ve been had several rounds later.  Too early here.

Kevin Mount's Analysis

My Draft Strategy:

Picking in the 10slot gave me an opportunity to nail down two stud RB’s in rounds 1 and 2, which I think was accomplished with Shane Vereen and LaMichael James. With the receivers flying off the board at a rapid pace, I was happy to see James Rodgers in the 3rd and decided to wait one more round to snag my first QB. I was ecstatic to grab Blaine Gabbert in the 4th and Brandon Weeden in the 5th to fill my two starting QB slots. From there on, it was just basically filling out my roster.

My Favorite Pick:
While I may be much higher on him than some in the college fantasy world, I was very happy to take Allen Bradford in the 7th round. I believe he is in for a big year and to grab him as my #3 RB was an easy choice for me.

Having Second Thoughts:
I seriously thought about taking John Clay in the 2nd instead of LaMichael James because I think the big guy is in for a monster season, but the talent of James and the system he plays in were too much for me to pass on.

“The One That Got Away”:
This actually happened to me twice in this draft. The first time was in round 4 when Boone Pickens nabbed Kellen Moore 1 pick in front of me and left me to take Blaine Gabbert. The second occurrence was Boone Pickens again when he took Patrick Edwards right in front of me and forced me to take DeVier Posey instead.

Best Value Picks

1. 3rd Round- WR Dwayne Harris (East Carolina) by Joe-CFG
2. 4th Round- WB Ryan Mallett (Arkansas) by Joe CFForecast
3. 7th Round- QB Austin Davis (Southern Miss) by Steven Lassan
4. 9th Round- WR Jerrell Jackson (Missouri) by Steven Lassan
5. 15th Round- WR Juron Criner (Arizona) by Long Shots

A Couple Headscratchers:

1. 5th Round – RB Darius Willis (Indiana) by Joe CFForecast
I like Willis to have a good year but I was surprised to see him get drafted this early especially in a 120 league. I would expect him to go in the 6th or 7th round in a just BCS league, so the 5th seemed early for me with guys like Baron Batch, Frank Goodin, and Chris Polk still on the board.

2. 7th Round- WR TY Hilton (Florida International) by Buyers Remorse
I am not as big on Hilton as some are and think there were better wide outs still on the board. Guys like Jermaine Kearse, Rodney Bradley, Ronald Johnson, and Patrick Edwards are guy that I like better than Hilton and were still available.
