CFG Injury Report - Week One

Injuries Running Backs Harvey Unga (BYU) Whats the scoop?Unga has been nursing a hamstring injury and has missed some practice time. However, he is expected to play on Saturday. Jahvid Best (Cal) Whats the scoop?Best missed some practice time earlier with soreness in his big toe. He has been back on the practice field and should be close to 100%. F

Running Backs

Harvey Unga (BYU)

What’s the scoop?Unga has been nursing a hamstring injury and has missed some practice time.  However, he is expected to play on Saturday.

Jahvid Best (Cal)

What’s the scoop?Best missed some practice time earlier with soreness in his big toe.  He has been back on the practice field and should be close to 100%.

Frank Goodin (ULM)

What’s the scoop?Goodin missed a recent scrimmage with an undisclosed injury, but is expected to play in the opener.

Brandon Minor (Michigan)

What’s the scoop?Minor has an ankle injury that has limited him in practice.  He is considered questionable.

Anthony Dixon (MIssissippi State)

What’s the scoop?Dixon is still awaiting word from Coach Mullen on whether he will be suspended for any games due to a DUI in July.  Dixon is said to be a gametime decision.

DeMarco Murray (Oklahoma)

What’s the scoop?Murray is back at practice after straining a hamstring during a scrimmage a few weeks ago.  He is expected to play in the opener.

Damion Fletcher (Southern Miss)

What’s the scoop?Fletcher has been upgraded to probable after straining a hamstring back on August 15th.  His coach says he is about 95%.  How much will he play against inferior competition this weekend (Alcorn State)?

Baron Batch (Texas Tech)

What’s the scoop?Batch is back to practice this week and is likely to play in the opener.  However, don’t expect a full workload as Batch doesn’t appear to be 100% yet.  And they won’t need him against North Dakota.

Andre Anderson (Tulane)

What’s the scoop?The information on Andre has been hard to find.  He was one of 23 players to have flu-like symptoms a couple weeks ago, and some reports say he is not back to 100%.  Consider Anderson to be “Questionable” this weekend, in every sense of the word.

Caleb King (Georgia)

What’s the scoop?King is considered to be doubtful for the opener due to a hamstring injury that has bothered him all month.

Roddy Jones (Georgia Tech)

What’s the scoop?Jones is considered to be doubtful as he is still nursing a wrist injury.

Jewel Hampton (Iowa)

What’s the scoop?Hampton is out for the season with a knee injury.

Jeff Brinson (Iowa)

What’s the scoop?Brinson is questionable for the opener with an ankle injury.  He is not listed on the two-deep.

Kordell Young (Rutgers)

What’s the scoop?Young has yet to practice as he continues to nurse a knee injury.  He has not been ruled out for week one, but don’t expect much of a workload if he does play.

Morgan Williams (Toledo)

What’s the scoop?Williams is out while he serves a two game suspension for disciplinary reasons.

Rashaud Slaughter (UAB)

What’s the scoop?Slaughter is doubtful with a leg injury.

Christian Ramirez (UCLA)

What’s the scoop?Ramirez is out with an ankle injury.

Chris Polk (Washington)

What’s the scoop?Polk is considered to be probable after missing a few practices with concussion symptoms.

Alex Allen (Akron)

What’s the scoop?Allen has struggled with a hip injury this camp.  He is expected to play in the opener.


Wide Receivers

DeAndre Brown (Southern Miss)

What’s the scoop?Brown was cleared for full contact drills this week, but he thinks the coaching staff will hold him out of the opener.  Even if he does play, how many snaps will he get against Alcorn State?

Randall Cobb (Kentucky)

What’s the scoop?Cobb missed some workouts because of a back problem, but he is considered to be probable for the opener.

Toren Dixon (Rice)

What’s the scoop?Dixon missed practice time two weeks ago with a hamstring injury.  One report considers him to be questionable for this weekend.  A closer look at the Rice websites shows no news on him at all.  Hmm…

Darius Darks (Iowa State)

What’s the scoop?Darks has missed most of camp with a hamstring injury and is not expected to play for a few weeks.

Ronald Johnson (USC)

What’s the scoop?Johnson is out 6-8 weeks with a broken collarbone.

McKay Jacobson (BYU)

What’s the scoop?Jacobson has suffered from concussion-like symptoms of late.  His is expected to play in the opener.


Tight Ends

Rob Gronkowski (Arizona)

What’s the scoop?The Gronk is considered doubtful for Saturday’s game with a back injury.

Jermaine Gresham (Oklahoma)

What’s the scoop?Gresham will miss the opener with a knee injury.  The injury is still being evaluated and he is considered to be week-to-week at the moment.

Kyle Rudolph (Notre Dame)

What’s the scoop?Rudolph has had hamstring issues this camp.  His status is up in the air for the opener.
