CFG Injury Report - August 21st

Injuries Quarterbacks Aaron Corp (QB, USC) Whats the scoop? Corp has a small fracture in his fibula but is back at practice and doesnt seem to be phased by the injury. Lyle Moevao (QB, Oregon State) Whats the scoop? His recovery is going slower than expected and it looks like he might not be ready for the start of the season. Max Hall (QB, BYU)













Injuries


Quarterbacks

Aaron Corp (QB, USC)

What’s the scoop? Corp has a small fracture in his fibula but is back at practice and doesn’t seem to be phased by the injury.

Lyle Moevao (QB, Oregon State)

What’s the scoop? His recovery is going slower than expected and it looks like he might not be ready for the start of the season.

Max Hall (QB,  BYU)

What’s the scoop? Hall dislocated a finger on his throwing hand but isn’t expected to miss any practice time.

Jaybo Shaw (QB, Georgia Tech)

What’s the scoop? Shaw broke his collarbone and is out 6-8 weeks.  He might take a redshirt.  He figured to be Josh Nesbitt’s backup this fall.


Running Backs

Jahvid Best (RB, Cal)

What’s the scoop? Best has sat out practice so far this August with a sore toe.  It sounds more precautionary in nature as he is expected to be ready to roll for the opener.

Graig Cooper (RB, Miami)

What’s the scoop? Cooper suffered an undisclosed foot injury but was back at practice a few days later and looked fine.

Damion Fletcher (RB, Southern Miss)

What’s the scoop? Fletcher has been hampered by a sore hamstring and has missed practice time.  He is expected to be fine for the opener.

Darren Evans (RB, Virginia Tech)

What’s the scoop? Evans tore his ACL and will be out for the season.

David Wilson (RB, Virginia Tech)

What’s the scoop? Wilson suffered a minor shoulder injury and should be fine.

Baron Batch (RB, Texas Tech)

What’s the scoop? Batch left practice last week with an undisclosed elbow/arm injury.  The injury isn’t thought to be as serious as first reported.  He could be ready to play in week 1 or 2.

Caleb King (RB, Georgia)

What’s the scoop? Caleb King sustained a hamstring injury during a scrimmage that could sideline him for 7-10 days.

DeMarco Murray (RB, Oklahoma)

What’s the scoop? Murray has been hampered by a bum hamstring but says he is 100 percent and will be ready for the opener.

Alex Allen (RB, Akron)

What’s the scoop? Allen is still bothered by a hip injury that caused him to miss most of the 2008 season.

Jewel Hampton (RB, Iowa)

What’s the scoop? Hampton reaggravated a knee injury and has missed some practice time recently.

Kordell Young (RB, Rutgers)

What’s the scoop? Young continues to have issues with his surgically repaired knee and will be limited in camp.  He hopes to be ready for the season opener, but one has to wonder if he will be in “football shape” by game one.


Wide Receivers

DeAndre Brown (WR, Southern Miss)

What’s the scoop? Brown broke his leg in USM’s bowl game.  His recovery was going well until a reported setback in mid-July.  Brown is back to running at full speed.  His status for the opener against Alcorn State is best classified as “questionable” at this point.

James Rodgers (WR, Oregon State)

What’s the scoop? Wide receiver James Rodgers received a big hit to his knee during Wednesday’s practice. He was held out of the rest of that practice.

Randall Cobb (Kentucky)

What’s the scoop? Cobb has been sidelined with a lingering back issue.  He has been sent to a back specialist in Georgia.

Scott Long (WR, Louisville)

What’s the scoop? Long is still on the mend from a knee injury.  He is not participating in contact drills but hope to be ready to go for the opener.

Malcolm Lane (WR, Hawaii)

What’s the scoop? Lane is taking a redshirt season to focus on academics.

Jeff Fuller (WR, Texas A&M)

What’s the scoop? Fuller was held out of a recent scrimmage with a hamstring injury.  It is not considered to be serious.

Darrell Catchings (WR, Oregon State)

What’s the scoop? Catchings hurt his hand (conflicting reports on the exact injury) and will be out until probaby mid-September.

Jacoby Ford (WR, Clemson)

What’s the scoop? Ford re-aggravated his hamstring in practice and has been limited.

Chad Bumphis (WR, Mississippi State)

What’s the scoop? Bumphis has a foot injury that will keep him out of action for the next two weeks.

Darius Darks (WR, Iowa State)

What’s the scoop? Darks has been hampered by a lingering hamstring injury.  His status for the opener is questionable at best.

Andre Debose (WR, Florida)

What’s the scoop? The incoming freshman has been limited in summer workouts with a bad hammy.

Kyle Halderman (WR, Air Force)

What’s the scoop? Slot back Kyle Halderman will miss at least two months of the season after breaking his collarbone in practice.


Tight Ends

Rob Gronkowski (TE, Arizona)

What’s the scoop? Gronkowski has a back strain and is out indefinitely.  Coach Mike Stoops has been mum on the issue, saying Gronk is “day-to-day and week-to-week”.

Wes Scourten (TE, Houston)

What’s the scoop? Scourten has a foot injury that’s kept him out of action for most of August camp.

Kyle Rudolph (TE, Notre Dame)

What’s the scoop? Rudolph has missed time with a hamstring injury.  Long-term status is unknown.
