ALABAMA
News: RB Trent Richardson is expected to return some kicks this season.
CFG Analysis: This enhances TR's value a little bit in leagues that reward bonuses for return TDs.
BYU
News: BYU has decided to roll with two quarterbacks this season - Riley Nelson and Jake Heaps.
CFG Analysis: We think Heaps will eventually take over the job, but for now it's best to avoid this situation.
CAL
News: RB Isi Sofele has won the backup role to Shane Vereen.
CFG Analysis: RB2 at Cal has been an important fantasy consideration in past years. However, Sofele isn't considered to be in the same class as some of the backups in recent years.
EAST CAROLINA
News: The quarterback battle between Brad Wornick and Dominique Davis will come down to the wire.
CFG Analysis: Whoever wins the job, running a Texas Tech-like offense, will become a nice sleeper option.
GEORGIA
News: RB Washaun Ealey was arrested for a hit-and-run accident.
CFG Analysis: Ealey has been suspended for "at least" one game. RB Caleb King will start the opener against UL-Lafayette.
IOWA
News: Coach Kirk Ferentz doesn not expect RB Brandon Wegher to return to the team anytime soon.
CFG Analysis: Adam Robinson and Jewel Hampton will carry the load for the Hawkeyes, at least in the early going. Just remember that Hampton is suspended for the opener.
MARSHALL
News: Andre Booker will start the opener at running back ahead of Martin Ward.
CFG Analysis: Surprising news here as Ward was one of our top sleepers on the season. A hand injury to Ward might be the reason for his demotion. Stay tuned on this one.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE
News: QB Dwight Dasher has been ruled ineligible by the school for his part in a $1,500 loan.
CFG Analysis: Dasher will miss the first few games, and he could wind up missing the entire season.
MISSOURI
News: RB Derrick Washington has been accused of sexual assault.
CFG Analysis: Washington has been suspended indefinitely. At this time, Kendial Lawrence is expected to start in the opener against Illinois.
MISSOURI
News: WR Jerrel Jackson is hoping to return for the opening game.
CFG Analysis: Doubt this happens, but the fact that it might be a possibility is a sign that his recovery must be going well.
OKLAHOMA STATE
News: WR Hubert Anyiam has been working with the third team this week.
CFG Analysis: Anyiam is back from injury, so this is likely just a way to get him back into the flow. Unless he has an injury setback, he should be in the starting lineup for the opener.
OREGON
News: Darron Thomas was named the Ducks starting QB over Nate Costa.
CFG Analysis: Thomas is more of a fantasy prospect than Costa, thanks to his ability to run. The question is whether this might downgrade LaMichael James a little bit as Thomas is sure to get more goalline work than Costa would have.
OREGON STATE
News: Kicker Justin Kahut returned to practice after having back problems.
CFG Analysis: While this does not appear to be serious, if you are drafting this weekend it might be best to pass on Kahut.
SOUTHERN MISS
News: Austin Davis was named starting quarterback over Martevious Young.
CFG Analysis: Not a surprise. Davis has been rising up the CFG Big Board since camp began in early August.
TEMPLE
News: RB Bernard Pierce was demoted to second string on the most recent depth chart.
CFG Analysis: Pierce was banged up most of fall camp and this appears to be a motivational ploy by head coach Al Golden. Pierce has been doing the interview circuit so we aren't too concerned about this....yet.
TEXAS A&M
News: QB Jerrod Johnson's shoulder does not appear to be at 100 percent.
CFG Analysis: We don't want to blow this one out of proportion, but anytime there is a perceived problem with a Top 5 fantasy QB, we take note.
USC
News: Marc Tyler will start at running back in the opener against Hawaii.
CFG Analysis: Allen Bradford was supposed to be the man this year. Don't count him out yet, but this is a blow to Bradford owners.
