BIG 12 FANTASY SNAPSHOT

BAYLOR

Best Bet: QB Robert Griffin
Assuming he is fully recovered from knee surgery, Griffin will be the straw that stirs the Bears drink.

Sleeper Potential: WR Kendall Wright
The Bears leading receiver is back and should benefit from the return of Robert Griffin.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will Robert Griffin return to elite status?
We won’t know the full answer until he hits the field for the first game in the fall, but reports are good on his knee recovery.

COLORADO

Best Bet: RB Rodney Stewart
Stewart is back and primed for a bump in carries which should help him flirt with the 1000 yard barrier in 2010.

Sleeper Potential: WR Scotty McKnight
The Buffs leading wide out returns and should build upon last years numbers.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will win the starting QB job?
Tyler Hansen appears to have a slight lead on Cody Hawkins, but the decision probably won’t be made official until later in August.

IOWA STATE

Best Bet: RB Alexander Robinson
Robinson returns and will be the focal point of the Cyclones offense. He has the potential to have another nice fantasy season in 2010.

Sleeper Potential: QB Austen Arnaud
It seems like Arnaud has been a sleeper for the past 8 years, but he is the starter and could be a serviceable starter in certain weeks.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Which WR will step up and become the go to guy?
Darius Reynolds, Darius Darks, and Sedrick Johnson will all vie to become the main man.

KANSAS

Best Bet: WR Jonathan Wilson
Wilson is the lone skill position starter back in the fold for 2010.  He's more of a sleeper than a "Best Bet", but fantasy pickings are slim in Lawrence this year.

Sleeper Potential: QB Kale Pick
He looks to have the lead in the QB battle and showed last year that he is a dual threat player.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who is going to tote the rock for the Jayhawks.
With Toben Opurum mysteriously being left off the spring depth chart, we may have to wait until later in August to see if a feature back emerges.

KANSAS STATE

Best Bet: RB Daniel Thomas
Thomas exploded onto the scene last year and should be even better this season. He makes for a #1 RB in BCS leagues.

Sleeper Potential: QB Carson Coffman
After a huge spring game, Coffman appears to be the starting QB and could post some nice numbers this season.

Biggest Fantasy Question: How will Bill Snyder use Chris Harper?
The athletic transfer from Oregon is reportedly going to be used as a full time receiver. We expect him to be used all over the field to take advantage of his abilities.

MISSOURI

Best Bet: QB Blaine Gabbert
Gabbert appears primed for a huge year and will be drafted in the first 2 or 3 rounds of most fantasy drafts. He is a top 10 QB in all 120 team leagues.

Sleeper Potential: RB Derrick Washington
Washington is hardly a sleeper in fantasy circles, but we’ll place him here as he tries to rebound from a disappointing 2009 campaign.  D-Wash has looked great this spring and appears ready to carry the load for the Tigers. If he duplicates his sophomore numbers, Washington makes a nice RB2 or RB3.

Biggest Fantasy Question: How will Missouri replace Danario Alexander?
The main candidates are Jerrel Jackson, Wes Kemp, Rolandis Woodland, Marcus Lucas and T.J. Moe.

NEBRASKA

Best Bet: RB Roy Helu Jr.
The Huskers leading RB is back and should have another solid season toting the rock, although he might lose valuable carries to...

Sleeper Potential: RB Rex Burkhead
“Super Man” as he was known in high school showed what he could do last year as a freshman. He will be used all over the field and has a ton of potential.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will be the Huskers starting QB?
Incumbent Zac Lee will battle with Cody Green and Taylor Martinez.

OKLAHOMA

Best Bet: WR Ryan Broyles
Broyles is a top 5 WR in all fantasy formats and should shine again in a very explosive Sooner’s offense.

Sleeper Potential: WR Kenny Stills
The true freshman was on campus for spring ball and impressed.  He is fighting to be the No. 2 WR in the Sooner offense.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will DeMarco Murray finally live up to his potential?
Murray has all the talent in the world but has never put it all together in a full season. We just might be looking at the 2010 version of CJ Spiller here.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Best Bet: RB Kendall Hunter
Hunter is looking to regain his 2008 form and return to the fantasy elite. He is the Pokes best player and will be used often in the new offense.

Sleeper Potential: QB Brandon Weeden
He had a huge spring game and could explode in the new offense under new offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen. He might not be Case Keenum yet, but he will have the opportunity to shine this fall.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Which WR’s will step up in the new offense?
The leading candidates are Hubert Anyiam, Tracy Moore, Justin Blackmon, and Josh Cooper.

TEXAS

Best Bet: QB Garrett Gilbert
This youngster showed what he could last season as he was called into duty during the National Title Game. He has all the tools to be the next great fantasy QB from Texas.

Sleeper Potential: WR Malcolm Williams
Williams is extremely talented but has not put it all together as of yet. He should be the top target for the Horns in 2010.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will Texas finally have a #1 RB this season?
The two leading candidates for the job are Tre Newton and Fozzy Whittaker. Cody Johnson, Vondrell McGee and Chris Whaley will also be in the mix.

TEXAS A&M

Best Bet: QB Jerrod Johnson
Johnson was a fantasy monster last year and should continue to dominate in 2010. He figures to be a Top 5 fantasy QB in most every format.

Sleeper Potential: RB Christine Michael
Michael flashed his potential last year and should be an even bigger playmaker this season. He will split carries with Cyrus Gray, but still holds quite a bit of value.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Will Jeff Fuller finally become an elite fantasy WR?
He has been slowed by injuries during his time in College Station, but looks to be healthy and ready to take his game to the next level.

TEXAS TECH

Best Bet: RB Baron Batch
The fantasy situation at Texas Tech is muddled to say the least. While we don’t love Batch because he might be involved in the dreaded RBBC, he has proven he can carry the load when healthy.

Sleeper Potential: WR Alex Torres
He has been outstanding this spring and should be a great fantasy WR especially in PPR leagues as he should catch at least 70-80 balls.

Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will be the starting QB this fall?
This is one of the biggest questions in college fantasy football. The battle is between Steven Sheffield and Taylor Potts. We should know the answer around August 21st, per the coaching staff's self-imposed deadline.
