ACC FANTASY SNAPSHOT
BOSTON COLLEGE
Best Bet: RB Montell Harris
Harris is the workhorse of the BC offense and should continue to be this fall. He should be a very dependable weekly fantasy option in most leagues.
Sleeper Potential: WR Colin Larmond Jr.
This guy averaged an impressive 20.5 yards per catch last year and could easily see more balls thrown his way in 2010.
Biggest Fantasy Question: How will the BC quarterbacks perform this season?
Sophomore Dave Shinskie looks to be the man under center but is not draft-worthy.
CLEMSON
Best Bet: RB Andre Ellington
Ellington will almost certainly share carries with Jamie Harper but we’ll go with Ellington to be more effective due to his home run capability.
Sleeper Potential: QB Kyle Parker
Parker opted for football over baseball this fall which is good news for the Clemson offense.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Tigers have any fantasy options are the WR position?
Marquan Jones, Xavier Dye, Jaron Brown, Brandon Ford, Bryce McNeal, and DeAndre Hopkins will likely all vie for playing time.
DUKE
Best Bet: WR Donavan Varner
Varner broke out last year and should again be the top target in the Duke passing offense.
Sleeper Potential: QB Sean Renfree
Renfree is a talented kid who missed the spring with a knee injury. He will have some nice receiving options at his disposal.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Duke running game ever wake up?
Desmond Scott had a nice spring game with 97 yards on the ground, but it’s hard to have much faith in a Duke RB until they prove themselves.
FLORIDA STATE
Best Bet: QB Christian Ponder
Ponder looks to be fully healthy and primed for a strong 2010 fantasy season. He should be a consistent fantasy producer in many leagues.
Sleeper Potential: WR Bert Reed
Reed had a good spring and looks to be the Noles top target in 2010. He could make a nice #2 or #3 WR in many BCS only leagues.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Will FSU have a feature RB or will it be RBBC?
Incumbent starter Jermaine Thomas is back, but he is not a lock to win the starting job this August.
GEORGIA TECH
Best Bet: QB Josh Nesbitt and RB Anthony Allen
Nesbitt is a nice option (pun intended) because of his tremendous rushing totals and Allen appears to be a plug in for the departed Jonathan Dwyer.
Sleeper Potential: WR Stephen Hill
Hill will try to fill the shoes of departed Demarius Thomas and become the primary receiver for the Jackets.
Biggest Fantasy Question: How much of an effect with having five new starters on the offensive line have on the Georgia Tech rushing numbers?
The ability of the new O-line to gel will be key in the success of the Tech option game.
MARYLAND
Best Bet: WR Torrey Smith
The leading receiver returns for the Terps and could flirt with the 1000-yard mark in 2010.
Sleeper Potential: QB Jamarr Robinson
Robinson solidified his spot as the starter this spring and should be more comfortable in the offense this year. He is a dual threat guy who could surprise.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Who will run the ball for the Terps in 2010?
Da’Rel Scott and Davin Meggett appear like the leaders to split the carries this fall.
MIAMI
Best Bet: QB Jacory Harris
Harris started out last year on fire but cooled considerably as the season progressed.
Sleeper Potential: RB Damien Berry
Berry had a great spring and could be the starter in the Canes backfield. He does have a ton of competition from Mike James, Lamar Miller, Storm Johnson and Graig Cooper if he can return from injury.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Will Jacory Harris become an elite fantasy QB?
He has a ton of talent and a bunch of weapons to work with this season, but is more likely to be a solid QB3 or QB4 than a surefire fantasy starter.
NORTH CAROLINA
Best Bet: WR Greg Little
The Heels don’t have much offensive firepower, but Little seems to be their best option (assuming the NCAA doesn't drop the hammer on him for improper contact with agents).
Sleeper Potential: RB Giovanni Bernard
The highly recruited Bernard could see significant playing time as a freshman due to a lack of depth at the position. UPDATE: Bernard tore his ACL and is out for the 2010 season.
Biggest Fantasy Question: How much improved with the Heels pathetic offense be in 2010?
It might be a wait and see here approach here.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE
Best Bet: QB Russell Wilson
Wilson also chose the gridiron over the baseball diamond and is poised to be a top flight QB in BCS-only formats.
Sleeper Potential: WR Jarvis Williams
Williams hauled in an impressive 11 touchdowns last year and should be a big part of a good passing attack again this fall.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Do the Pack have any fantasy viable running backs?
Not really, although junior Curtis Underwood and redshirt freshman Brandon Barnes are ones to watch.
VIRGINIA
Best Bet: There doesn’t appear to be anyone on the roster that fits the bill.
Sleeper Potential: WR Tim Smith
Smith has dazzled the coaches this spring and appears to be on track to be the #1 wide out at Virginia.
Biggest Fantasy Question: Will the Virginia offense produce any fantasy worthy options in 2010?
While there are no certainties in college fantasy football, this would seem to be a long shot as things currently stand.
VIRGINIA TECH
Best Bet: RB Ryan Williams
Williams exploded onto the fantasy scene in 2009 and should be an outstanding option for fantasy owners again this fall.
Sleeper Potential: WR Jarrett Boykin
Boykin averaged whopping 20.88 yards per catch last season on 40 receptions.
Biggest Fantasy Question: How will the return of Darren Evan affect the fantasy value of Ryan Williams?
Williams is a special player, but Evans is a good back as well and will see enough carries to make Williams owners nervous. The carry distribution probably won’t really be known until the season kicks off.
WAKE FOREST
Best Bet: WR Devon Brown
Brown had a nice year in 2009 with over 800 total yards and 7 scores.
Sleeper Potential: QB Skylar Jones
Jones is an athletic guy who could be a nice dual threat for the Deacons, assuming he can hold onto the starting job.
Biggest Fantasy Question: What will the Deacons offense look like without Riley Skinner?
The duo of WR’s Devon Brown and Marshall Williams could be used a lot in the Wake offensive scheme in 2010.
